Our beloved MSAA chat room has just turned two! It is hard to believe that’s in 2016 our MSAA chat room became a reality as the MSAA teamed up with HealthUnlocked and created this awesome community. With just a few hundred members the chat room took shape and gained steady voices as both Jesmcd2 and Fancy1959 became the first Representatives in the chat room to steady the chat rooms commitment that it remain a positive force for all those affected by the dreaded monster we call MS. By November of 2016 it was decided that both Jes and Fancy be officially commissioned as Community Ambassadors. Our chat room spread like wildfire and we reached our first Milestone of 1,000 members a mere month after its origination in September of 2016!
By its first birthday in August of 2017 our chat room was gaining momentum and we reached a total of 6u members. As our membership continue to grow so did our post and replies. By our first birthyday we listed 2288 post with a corresponding 33390 replies. Wow did we take off! As tcbche chat room continue to grow the a new community Ambassador was introduced to the the chat room. We welcomed Tutu to our Community Ambassador ranks. As we watched our chat room continue to expand its membership became excited and rallied around one of our members, Kdali, as we watched her progress through her first pregnancy. We welcomed to our newest member, Victoria May to the family on August 31st 2017. The chat room, thanks to kdali, watched as Victoria grew and prospered. We got to see her first smile, we got to watch her set up for the first time and see her pictures as she progressed and got cutier by the moment. We were overjoyed to watch her start to crawl hand maneuver around her home. And now as she drawls close to a 1 year old we will get to watch baby Victoria drive her parents nuts as her mobility increases and her curiosity sends her into every room of their home! Needless to say, 2017 was a joyous year in the chat room.
Now, in August of 2018 we celebrate the chat room’s second birthday! At 2, the chat rooms numbers become staggering. The chat room can now boost of 5800 posts with a total of 80,000 comments on these posts! The chat room membership is currently peeking at 7over 3,100 members and we are a force that becomes stronger and stronger. To give the members of our chat room a bit of insight into those who helped to shape our chat room I asked our CA’s each 3 questions.
1.What is your favorite part about being a Community Ambassador?
2.Converselyd what part do you have the hardest time with as a Community Ambassador?
3.Finally what area have you grown the most while being a Community Ambassador?
Here are the CA’s responses.
Jes responded that she loved making sure people know they aren’t alone on this ride Her second response was what she had most difficult time was that she ran out of time and she felt as if she couldn’t help everyone the way she wanted to. And as far as the area she had grown most in she commented that she, and I quote, “ I didn’t want to know what I know now.” That you know you are never alone.
Fancy responded that her favorite part about being a CA was making a difference in the lives of people with MS. The second question of what she found most difficult was definitely when she and Jes set up the chat room. She sometimes felt uncertain of the direction the chat room was taking, but with help from the powers to be, she and Jes successfully set up the framework and helped to guide the chat room into the safe and positive place that was our vision. And for the third question where she has grown the most, she realized early on that she learned as much from the membership of the chat room as they learned from her. She realized that together they became a powerful force and hence her signature sign off was created, that together we are stronger!
Jimeka as always was extremely positive. Her position as our Birthday Ambassador was long over due when shad had been fulfilling the role as a Community Ambassador from the beginning. What she loves most about the chat room was the humor we share in it. She also enjoys seeing the natural beauty we share whether it be the flowers we grow or the wildlife that lives around our homes. And finally she was absolutely amazed about the talent in the chat room with our arts and crafts that so many of our members shared.
Tutu was unreachable. So no comments were made from her.
CalfeeChick responded that her favorite part was getting to meet new members and introducing them to the chat room. She also thought the support that we all gave one another was amazing and she learned much from it. The second question about what she found most difficult for her in the chat room was trying not to get too personally involved with members sometimes. And finally she answered the area she grown the most in was she has grown in her knowledge of MS and continually learned about interacting with people and being a positive influence to them.
Greaterexp responded that her favorite part of being a CA was getting to know the membership better. As far as the part of being a CA that she had the hardest time with was reading about so many tough problems and feeling mostly helpless, “(outside of prayer!)” to be there to help. And finally the area she grew the most is to learn to listen to people better and found ways to support people in positive tones even in the face of great difficulty. She also loved how so many people openly share stories about their life.
As the chat room continues to grow we want to remind everyone what a positive force each and every individual is within this chat room. It is our family here that sets us apart and keeps us a vital and living force and enables us to assist and support any and all people fighting this dreaded Monster we call MS. Happy 2nd birthday to one and all who helped create and make this chat room the special place it is! Rember to smile and the world will smile back at you!
