You are newly diagnosed with a lifelong chronic illness. You have a lot to do to prepare yourself and I am sorry to say you should have started yesterday.
First off I suggest a good long cry, mine took a few years. but in-between the tears you need to start taking a Disease Modifying Therapy (DMT). This is VERY VERY important. If your neurologist waffles, fire him and get a new one.
Cry some more, just bawl and get it out so that you can start down your path.
You are not going to die and you do not always have to be in a wheelchair, IF you do nothing things may not be so easy.
It is time to start changing bending, becoming flexible in what you do and how you do it. There is usually more than 1 way to get to a goal just start looking and seeing ofher possibilities. They are out there you, may just have to take a fourth & fifth look at things.
Now something that has been on my mind all morning is WORDS. Yes WORDS, how about you start thinking about your WORDS. Try to start saying things that do not mean huge pain, insurmountable and, impossible. Maybe just challenging.
What WE are doing, is putting you back into an ICAN I WILL I DO mindset. I am sure somebody has trademarked that statement so I apologize . ms is terrible, no ms is annoying no ms is inconvenient ms is just another obstacle I have to get around. Do you see the picture, hear my words, feel me. All the same meaning just put different ways, CHOOSE your WORDS wisely.
We are all in this cage that is ms, but how we look at it, how we choose to face it will determine wether we are in SHAWSHANK or is a nice plush country club resort. I know which one I will be in, their is room for you, so get off the bus and lets relax awhile.
