Has anyone else been using DMSO for pain?

Has anyone else been using DMSO for pain? I find it really works well when my back and spine are in pain. It burn for a few minutes though but the effects of one application last for a few days. I use it on my knees also. I bought mine at tractor supply company. It technically says not for human use but it's a miracle quick fix for any pain I am experiencing.

I would make sure to tell your doctor you are using it. I think it can effect your kidney and liver function (it gets absorbed through your skin). Also "for animal use" only does not have standards like human use and the maker could be using bulk ingredients you don't want to be using.

That's not true...unless you already have kidney or liver problems. It can be used with essential oils such as turmeric to increase skin absorption of helpful nutrients webmd.com/vitamins-and-supp...

It's your body and I'm all for doing whatever you feel comfortable with. None of us are the picture of health though and many of our medications can cause kidney and liver issues. Even vitamins, you should tell your doctor you are using. There are many things that can cause interactions. It also can carry anything you use on your skin to be absorbed into the bloodstream, like lotions or soap, which most of us don't want absorbed into our bloodstream. It's your call of course, we are all free to do how we see fit, but personally I'd make sure your neurologist and primary care know you are using it.

Believe me I did my research first b4 ever buying some to try and I am FULLY aware of the ability to carry things to your bloodstream through your skin..I'd be more worried about the DMD's doing damage to your kidneys and all the bad side effects associated the DMD's but the FDA approves those :) Like the copaxone causing tooth loss.

I fully support whatever you want to do to your own body. I take what the specialists believe is the best for me, that's just me. I believe in cancer treatment. Cancer survival has gotten better and better. I have RA and I take those medications. RA use to kill and now it's mostly managed life long because of the medications. I don't think my doctors are in on keeping us sick in order to make money. I give my kids vaccines and I get vaccines. Like I said, I fully support you doing whatever you want to your own body (I personally believe street drugs should be legal). But I also believe in taking what my doctors prescribe. If I don't agree or want to take something, I go over my concerns and pros/cons with my doctors. If I have a doctor that won't do that or won't listen to my concerns, I find a new doctor ;) - I'm really happy with all my doctors right now (besides my urologist, I need to find a new urologist!).

I'm glad you found relief.

It appears that a lot of people on copaxone are having their teeth break off at the gumline . I have experienced this too but didn't make the connection to copaxone use

I'm so sorry, have you reported that to Shared Solutions? I started having problems when I started to have sever migraines. I.e. hospital.. steriods... But! I had lost a tooth by being punched. So, everything... contributes to so on and so forth, for Me.🤣

I remember seeing that online, a young kid lost his teeth after starting Copaxone. I have no idea how that's possible though, Copaxone is just a protein in sugar water 🤷‍♀️

Maybe this is why V has no teeth yet 😵

I'm not sure we need convincing. I think many of us are not going to buy a treatment at the tractor store meant for horses. I'm a farm girl, I have a lot of things in my personal animal pharmacy kit and my veterinarian trusts me, so I have many prescriptions for my livestock as well. If I need antibiotics though, I'm going to my primary care, not my livestock kit. (life extension is a vitamin and supplement company, I buy their migra-eeze, with my neurologists approval).

I'm not to convince anyone to use I just asked if IF anyone was using it for pain management...don't trust the FDA to bring you all relevant information because big pharma can't make money on, it they are not going to tell the public about it or approve it for human use

What percentage do you use? My mom gave me two bottles @ 99.994% pure.

Seems kinda strong.

I use the 99% pure also

I think the biggest worry for me is if there is something I may not be aware of that gets drawn into my bloodstream.

I’m just a big scary cat, I think. I’m still reading about it though. My mom uses it, but hell, she’s almost 90. What’s the harm at that point?

I only use organic soaps on my skin anyway so I'm not real worried about contaminants getting into my bloodstream and I use organic cotton rounds to apply it...it really helps with the pain when it's so bad I want tear my hair out...lol You don't want any lotions or soaps or anything on your skin where you're applying it!!!

I use it on my right knee which always gives me problems and I first rub some frankincense oil ( which is also good for pain) on it and after it dries I apply the DMSO....you Mom must know something if she's made it to 90 :)

dogdaddy profile image
dogdaddy

Leave it on for a few minutes and then wipe it off with a fresh cotton round....it helps with the burning feeling but once the burning stops you have unbelievable pain relief and it last for days. Saves having to get addicted to pain meds to find relief and the accompanying drugged out feeling that comes with the pain meds. My Mom lived to 94 :)
