Counting my blessings

Yesterday, as I was sitting in my infusion center's waiting room, having my own little internal pity party because, once again, things got screwed up and the Tysabri hadn't arrived when it was supposed to (a week ago), so I'm a week late on the infusion AND the hospital decided I needed to pay $250 before I can get the infusion. So, I'm sitting there, feeling sorry for myself that I'm going to have to launch another insurance vs hospital War, when in walks a patient to get his infusion (of what, I don't know).

But I notice this little patient (4 years old) is walking very slowly - and then I see why. He has two artificial legs ... and one hand is missing ... and the other hand has no fingers. I was so totally humbled and felt like God just slapped me upside the head and said, "You have no problems, woman, so quit your pity party".

And did I mention the brilliant smile this precious little boy had?

Turns out, he lost his extremities last year from complications of the flu!

Just wanted to share and remind us all that no matter what we are going through, we should not complain, because there's always someone who is going through worse.

Blessings to all,

Sandy

That’s what I tell people who ask me how I’m doing and they feel sorry for me.

Wow! I didn't know complications from the flu could be that extreme! The MS road is not an easy one so pity parties are a natural result when we hit a wall. Its what you do during or after that matters. Seeing a little guy like that would be humbling for sure.

God does have a way to show us how blessed we are in the most humbling ways at just the right times. I know that had to break your heart. He is always an on time God.

Poor kiddo. You are right, it could always be worse. Amazing how a little perspective can so quickly change an attitude.

But I also think your feelings are still valid despite the fact it could be worse...it is OK to get down and feel sorry for yourself from time to time. that’s human nature.

Nothing like a brilliant smile from a little one in his situation to remind us to count each & every blessing in our lives. Lynn
