Thank you for prayers for my son and family.

My son who had an addiction problem finally walked into a hospital to get psychiatric and detox. He learned that he is bipolar. Ironically, he doesn’t want to keep taking his medication for his mental health because he doesn’t like how it makes him feel. But he is at an Adult and Teen Challenge for a year. Teen Challenge is a Christrian Faith Drug and Alcohol Recovery Center; at least he’s safe with wholesome people, in a new place. I thank God.

I didn’t realize how much his problems effected me. I have relief mentally, but my body feels neglected and out of sorts. It is time for me to focus on my health. Good news! My neurologist thinks I am doing okay, in general. She says I could wait to see how others do on OCREVUS. I have bad days with high humidity and/or heat and days I just don’t know the reason. Now I know that I should exercise and eat better. I lost much weight with all the stress and my stamina to garden or play oboe is definite lacking. Taking one day at a time, one moment at a time ... patiently hoping for more good days, good moments.

Thank you! Prayers to you all!

TonyiaR7 , I’m so sorry for what you, your son, and your family have suffered. I applaud you all for doing this hard thing in getting treatment. I’ve learned that Teen Challenge has a very good success rate.

You have strength you probably never guessed you had, but it’s obviously time to steer some of that toward your own health.

Your family are in my prayers. I do hope you will update us as to how you are all doing. I thank God for your strong faith and determination.

I'm glad your son is getting the help he need. Now it's time to focus on you! Easier said than done I know! Its really something when we will realize, we are affected by others health/well being. That's your son, so its understandable. It's hard not to think of love ones well being.

It's true, it does something to MS patients. At least I know for me. The stress isn't good. I can always feel my body tensing up and start to walk even more slower due to me worrying.

That's good news in general far as your health too per doc!

TonyiaR7 I'm glad that your son is getting the help that he needs. My bf is bipolar and it is a very hard disease because of all the ups/downs and through in addiction (mine has that). He has been doing good for the 1.5 that he has been here in MI but had to have his meds adjusted earlier this year because he was starting to become manic (which happens from time to time). If you need someone to talk to, please inbox or message me.

My daughter had very similar problems to your son and it was stressful and heartbreaking for over a decade! I'm glad that your son is getting help, and he has a problem he alone cannot solve. Good luck and make sure you start putting yourself first and taking better care of you! I know it first it seems selfish but you're no good to anybody else unless you're good to yourself.

Sorry you went through similar problem. Yes, it has been about a decade for us, along with psychiatric issues. Thank you for words of encouragement.

Is your daughter doing well or better? After the relief and the decade stressful time, did you feel down? I do despite a wonderful thing. There was so much going on and now silence.

She’s been clean and sober for about six years thank God! She still needs a counselor and depression medication that has come so far! I hope that gives you hope! During stressful tomes it was very difficult I seem to have an MS symptoms after stressful situations calm down and try to be strong during the storm.

I am calming down but to keep being strong - right now I feel weak. It Psychiatric problem started in senior year in high school. He reverted to a 4 year old for 2 weeks. We all went to therapist. I feel the life siucked our of me.

Hi, TonyiaR7 . So glad that your son is getting the help that he needs. That has to relieve you of some of your emotional burden. Now you need to focus on yourself. MS is a nasty thing that hides in wait for something else to make us sick then jumps out to pile on. I've been sick from a stupid URI that should've been gone weeks ago but the MS has piled on and made me weak, my hands and arms are melting with tremors, and when I walk I feel like I am drunk. Best of luck to you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care of that UTI. Probably will have to change antibiotics. Yes I agree my MS symptoms all over the map. When I can get calm, I feel a little better. I just don’t know why I am so down.

TonyiaRobinson7 it is so easy to neglect yourself when things come our way.before Ms we jumped to whatever and trauma/drama(as I call my times in life)....normally can give us a punch....I am thankful that now there are good places to receive love, support etc on these issues and many prayers do go out.I grew up in the 70's...it was not easy but I kept remembering the love of my mother and father and the love of the Lord for ALL people. My instinct is to hop right over, get you water and food and tuck you in...best wishes to all concerned...

I really need something like that right now. Very down. He is still doing doing Teen Challenge but gripes and complains as if we put him there. Visit this July made me feel I still has an addict for a son. But he is still alive and drug free. Thank God. But I have had 3 relapses involving my legs. Much muscle atrophy. Ironically I have done much PT with out much disciple so I guess I must start somewhere at home. Really feel down.

You're a true mum Tonyia, your motherly instincts make you mention the worries about your son first, before mentioning the worries about your own health.

I have worries about the health of my daughter too, who has been brain damaged from birth onwards, caused by questionable actions of the surgeon at the time (or should I say the lack of appropriate care).

'Our' MS makes our circumstances so much more complicated!

Of course I do not know what the situation at this very moment is, but I wish you all the best with one and another; hopefully your situation has not become a lot worse?

Kind regards, Jos.
