Knee pain and foot drop?

I've had foot drop for nearly twenty years. Now I'm getting weird knee pain. It hurts to lift my leg but not anything else. Then something pops and the pain goes away. A few days later it starts all over again. Just curious if dragging my foot all these years could be causing it.

StacyHayward maybe an altered gait caused the knee problem

U might have a torn meniscus that is catching, pops back into position, pain relieved

Or a subluxed (slipped) patella

Or diagnosing in a chat room is dangerous...hope u feel better

Oh don't worry I plan on seeing a doctor. Just thought I'd ask around in case the doctors can't find a reason.

StacyHayward I've had foot drop for almost as long as you've had it. I tend to lock or hyperextend my knee to maintain my balance and now have knee pain also. Wearing an AFO brace helps me pick up my toes and it also tilts my knee a bit so the knee pain is gone when I wear it.

Thanks. I haven't treated mine at all.

I've had my AFO for 20+ years. It's not that leg that is causing me issues, but the other one. I think mine is a combination of gait, arthritis and a bad knee even after a new ACL. I hope your doctor has a definitive answer for you, StacyHayward . 💕

I have got drop, and my knee locks so I am walking with a straight leg all the time. I trip up a lot or leave the locked leg behind which causes me to fall. As regards pain, I have days where it feels as though there is a ten tonne weight attached to my foot. Hope you can sort it, blessings Jimeka 🦋 🌈

Thank you (and your hubby)!

That sounds like a meniscus problem to me, but also anytime I have had an issue which creates an unusual walking pattern, it seems to manifest in other areas as well I have had foot drop for about seven years, and I walk for a living, so I have noticed all manner of aches, twinges and what have you in other joints and even the other leg. best thing for me has been keeping it moving anyway( bicycling is my favorite exorcise )
