I'm guest lecturing for a psychology professor's class this afternoon on Contraception and STIs (aka STDs). I've taught his and this class before, but not since I've been so aware of my cog fog issues 😬. Let's hope I don't lose my words or thoughts mid-sentence. And I'm bringing my cane to support me during the 90 minute lecture (I'm imagining that might grant me some pity and leeway 😳)

You can do this erash , just take breaks when you need them. And yes, take the cane, then if you get a little fog raise it so they all see it and say, "Damn MS!"

I think honesty goes a long way, too. I attended a lecture once by a well known doctor and was really excited to hear what he had to say. The farther he got into his presentation the "drunker" he acted and sounded. He was rapidly losing all of us. He stopped midsentence and apologized and explained that he had MS, was extremely tired and his brain fog was killing it. Once we understood, everyone was cheering him on and we not only learned a lot, but everyone enjoyed doing it. People are usually kind and generous to someone they know is really telling it like it is. He told me later he was afraid he would lose credibility if he let his audience know he had the same disease he was lecturing about. I told him that only made us know that he knew just how we felt.
