Motto of the Day Follow-Up

This is a follow-up to Jesmcd2 's post. I had to start a new post to include the picture. This is my husband's favorite motto, or at least one he likes to remind me of, when our definitions of attitude don't quite line up:

Attitude...the difference between an ordeal and an adventure.

The photo was taken when my husband sailed down the West Coast a couple months ago. They experienced 45-knot winds and 15' seas. He says it was an adventure. Me? 😱 (Thank goodness my balance didn't allow me to join him. Sometimes MS has its benefits.)

Beautiful picture! At first I thought it was snow capped mountains from a ski lift. I like his motto and attitude. My motto is "Mind over Matter, If I don't mind, it doesn't Matter!"

My husband said that others thought it was snow-capped mountains too!

He made it safely from Seattle to San Diego, starlight5 . He leaves San Diego in March for the South Pacific. It'll take 4-5 weeks before he reaches land. He's looking for one more crew member. Interested? 😁

WAshingtongirl my brother would love to go but his wife probably wouldn't be there when he got back! He just sailed from Destin Fl down the coast then overbto the Bahamas for a 5 week trip with his son. Beautiful photos. But hubby and I had to go to Ala and spend a week then go back later and spend Christmas week with his wife. She has health issues and anxiety attacks and steel rod for backbone causes a lot of pain but it brought me joy to see my brother make his adventure sailing in his sailboat. He is 72.

72? Wow! Now that's a dream fulfilled, agapepilgrim . His poor wife, though...

Sounds like your brother is a lot like you, living every moment, and of course you were thinking of others when you went to look after your sister in law with your own health issues. You never fail to amaze me, God bless you agapepilgrim Jimeka

jimeka one of my favorite hymns I learned as a teenager, never forgot, caughtthe vision, and have tried to live it. "Others, Lord, yes, others, let this my motto be, so that even when I kneel to pray my prayer shall be for others." And if you want joy, spell it J-Jesus first, O- others second, Y- you, last.

Karen-x , I've been on the sailboat ⛡️ with my husband in 35-knot winds, 6' seas, with driving rain and temps in the mid 30s. Talk about soaked and cold to the bone!! 😬

We also shared a kayak and faced towering waves off the coast of Kauai. Talk about sheer terror! I paddled as though my life depended on it (fortunately, I was on steroids then).

My husband hears "marine warning" and "small craft advisory" and his eyes light up, and I find we are the only id**ts out on the water. I've learned to tread softly-in the other direction-when he says, "But it will be so exciting!"

When he quotes his motto, telling me it will be an adventure, not an ordeal, I quote back:

Sometimes boring is good!πŸ˜‰

P.S. Wasn't it you telling me about your dream to sail the intercoastal waterway with your husband? Hope I remembered that right. Where is that spreadsheet? Maybe I can borrow Jesmcd2 's.

It is me that wants do that. Good memory! But I don't want to go out in gale force winds and waves.

I'm gushing at your 'good memory' comment. πŸ™ƒI think that's a first for me!

I know it's in the future, but in case I forget by then, I wish you happy ⛡️
