A Month of Thanks

WAshingtongirl profile image
75 Replies

We have a lot of challenges in our lives-some MS-related, others not. I thought maybe we could start a daily post, for the remainder of this month, where we state ONE thing (person, test result, unexpected kindness, less painful shot reaction...) we are thankful for. I find if I am able to focus one even one good thing in a rotten day, I feel a little better.

I'll start today's post. Maybe someone can pick it up tomorrow, etc. I'm anxious to read what everyone has to share (if you want to).

I'm thankful for my husband. He dug holes in our front yard last night until after dark so I could plant 160 tulip and narcissus bulbs. He's my hero. ❤️️

Terrific idea Tutu. I keep a little daily diary and include things I'm grateful for each day. Now that my income is reduced, I was very grateful and pleasantly surprised at the free restaurant meal and 15% off my groceries received as a benefit of being a veteran yesterday!

Wow, you have had quite an exciting life, veteran, university professor and nurse, what an achievement, I salute you in every possible way, what memories you must have, many blessings, Jimeka x

Tutu I like this idea ; today I am struggling with Cog fog and can't find the workshop notes for staying organized that I promised I'd post; so much for trying to do more than one thing at a time. Resting this weekend a must:)

Well I have just woken up, it's a new day, Sunday morning. I am thankful that I can still walk to the bathroom and get a shower by myself. When I fall my husband has to help me, so I just love being able to have some me time when I am able. I am very thankful to be able to hear my grandsons voices, when they say "morning Nanna" what a blessing, anyway it won't be a blessing if I don't get there first, with 7 of us living in the house, it's a race, and some of us have ' leaky pipes' !!!!! Have a great day God bless Jimeka

What would we do without spouses that give us unconditional love and support. I know it's as hard on them, at times, as it is on us. especially when we are having a hard time.

Goodness, I am crying as I read all of these. I had something else in mind as my 'thanks' for today, but reading what everyone else has written here has trumped that. I'm thankful for all of you, for those you love and who love you, and for MSSA allowing us to meet and share our lives like this. 💕

I'm thankful for my family and my new group of sisters (Atlanta YANA sisters). I'm thankful I can wake up this morning and share with this wonderful group of people. Finally I'm grateful that my mom, aunt Kathy, and my grandfather who have passed are watching over me Abdul gave me the strength I have today to continue on.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh, my! Where to begin! I have so much to be thankful for, but I'll start with the knowledge that God is with me always. I'm so grateful for my fabulous husband and his love and support, as well as the rest of my family. What tremendous blessings I've been given!

Thanks for starting this thread. No matter how bad things can seem on any given day, we have so much good that we can focus on, and that's wonderful therapy!

I'm thankful for my huge extended family, etc. and the new addition that is coming our way. I'm thankful for all the smiles and laughs we had at the baby shower earlier today that keep me smiling and thinking the best is yet to come.

Days like this remind me to keep a positive outlook on life. Knowing I have aunts, cousins etc. who know there are times we all have when we aren't always bright and chipper.

LOVE to all of you!

I am thankful for the weather we have had today. No rain, beautiful sunshine. I have been able to go out on my trike with my dog, and just enjoy the great outdoors. It tired me, so I went to bed and watched a really good American Christmas movie. Well I laughed until I cried. It did feel good, am I thankful, apart from I nearly split my sides!!

I didn't have the strength to loosen the screws holding the screen in my from storm door and replace it with a window. So I requested help from our local handyman, Brent, who stopped by after work and took the screws out for me and reinstalled them after spraying them with WD40 to hold in the window. Thank you very much Brent!

I am thankful for many things. I am thankful for my wonderful husband who is always there for me. I am tghankful for Willow, my service dog. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful that I can still work full-time. I am thankful that my employer made accomadations for me so that I can continue to work and do it from home. I am thankful for my MS and Diabetes. I know that is weird but so many people have worse conditions. In my family I am the healthy one. I am thankful for this group. I am thankful for my friends. I am thankful for a God who loves us all and is with us even when we think/feel like we are alone. I am thankful for life.

Thankful that I can still ride a bike and had a nice neighborhood ride today.

Tutu, it's MSFIGHTER and I can't think of anything I am more grateful for then all the great friends I have made in this MSAA chat room. I know that someone will always be listening if I'm in the mood to talk. Sometimes I can be lonely butt how can you stay lonely when they're such a great group of friends making you laugh. I treasure each and everyone of you because I know you understand what I am truly going through. I don't think there is any other people on the planet that understands MS as well as we do.

Today I am especially thankful, because out of the 7 people who live in this house, I am the only one who hasn't got a cold. They are all sneezing, I will soon have shares in Kleenex! Thank God.

in reply to jimeka

Jimeka, it's MSFighter. Just give yourself a bit more time and a bit more exposure and I'm certain they'll share the virus with you too. Unfortunately........ this is way off the subject we were on but you know what I have found that works really well for me to keep myself from getting colds. I use saline nose drops to irrigate my sinuses and my throat. Anytime I feel like I'm starting to get stuffy or my throat starting to feel funny I grab the nasal spray and I irrigate my nose my throat 2 or 3 times a day. I actually managed to work as section supervisor for two solid years in a division where 300 people worked and I never once got a cold. It was amazing but it really worked. Try it it might help you. Again what do you have to loose? They cost maybe two bucks!

Wednesday, I am grateful for friends. They check-in on me, are positive in prayer and thoughts, helpful when I need anything.

I think I may have missed Tuesday, so for Tuesday, I will say I am grateful for my Kitty, named Boston. He's a black and white "Tuxedo" cat. Weighs 18lbs and loves his Momma. He stays by me, sleeps by my legs and feet. My lovely furry caretaker. He was a rescue kitty we got almost 3 yrs. ago.

Again, thank you Tutu for beginning this dialogue. It's why I enjoy this forum: positive, caring and supportive!

Today, Sunday the 20th, I am thankful my husband is home safe and sound after 4 days away at a conference. I missed him but I am also thankful that with the help of detailed "to do lists", I was independent and able to survive, thrive, and not burn down my house (leave the stove on etc). 😊

Well firstly I apologise I lost this thread somehow, so today Monday 28th I am thankful to find it again and read all 70 replies. The weather is colder, and tonight they give a -7* C frost, so I think I will stay inside.
