Multiple myeloma I'm new to this

Know anybody with any skeletons in their closet? Because I could sure use one!

So that's my little joke , but quite seriously that's currently my big worry. My diagnosis was quite recent, and almost missed as most of my blood chemistry is within normal parameters. It was my kappa free light chain ratio that tipped them off , but my skeletal degradation is pretty advanced with a big tumor that has gnawed through my 8th rib and PET scans reveal a plethora of uptake foci indicating osteolytic lesions in various vertebrae and few other places. Anybody else have a start on this road that was similar? For me it was just rib pain , which I thought was an old break re-opening for several months, but eventually I had it checked out. Urine and blood work initially showed up as pretty well normal. I mourn my dissolving bones, they served me well. I want them back.

I’m sorry to hear that you have been recently diagnosed with myeloma and obviously been suffering for some time. It’s a shame that this site isn’t well attended because I’d love to know more about myeloma. My 72 year old sister was diagnosed nearly a year ago and it’s difficult finding people with experience of this disease.

Hi, how is your sister doing now? My father-in-law was diagnosed 2 months ago and is 83. He had 3 fractured vertebraes. He has lost 40 pounds in 3 months and weight 123 and is 5’9” tall. We are so worried about him. He has taken 3 Chemos. Still in pain, no appetite and very weak.

Has your father in law started on stem cell transplant yet? How is he doing now?

Hi, my father-in-law passed away Sunday. He fought a good fight, but cancer was too much for him. Thanks for asking.
