Tyrosine to help skin that burns in the sun

lillyofthevalley37 profile image

Hi everyone I just wanted to share this discovery with you which is that tyrosine produces melanin so if you burn in the sun you may be deficient in melanin tyrosine will make your body produce more and thereby stop you burning in the sun

You don't need much either I make 500mg capsule last about a week

Thanks for this, really useful info, what were you prescribed tyrosine for ?

Well it's a long story but last year I had too much serotonin in my system, dopamine is the opposite of serotonin and tyrosine makes dopamine so I bought mine from Holland&Barrett

I found that when I didn't take tyrosine on a sunny day I would burn and research confirmed this I think it is what they put in tanning pills but I haven't checked this out

Parkinsons disease is from lack of dopamine, there are less cases of Parkinsons in hot countries I remember reading that it was suggested that the sun may prevent Parkinsons but it looks to me like a lack of melanin plays a part

many thanks, I am fair skinned but used to tolerate sun exposure reasonably well as long as I was careful, but as I have aged my tolerance has definitely lessened, so this is an interesting idea. Also because my skin is sensitive I have to be careful which sun creams I use.

I was in Aden in the army where it was extremely hot in the sun every day. About 30 years later I get sin cancer as it is cumulative. This means that the potential builds up the more sun you get. I am very fair skinned but nobody was warned in those days. It has been treated so no problem now but I still have to be careful in the sun and if it is really hot and sunny I always use sun cream which makes me go a bit brown as well. Well not exactly brown but a reddish kind of brown which looks reasonable. I don't know about taking doses of chemicals inwardly though as one doesn't really know what they are doing.

Don't worry unless you have bipolar disorder tyrosine won't do you any harm and it will protect you from Parkinsons disease

I buy mine from Holland&Barrett I don't have a full capsule I have about about a fifth of a capsules per day

It makes you go a nice golden brown colour

It's not a chemical it is an amino acid

This is interesting. I burn very easily. Can this be bought in stores? Does it protect the skin so you don't get melanomas. Ive had a couple of moles removed a few years back. Visit dermatologist every year. Funny how they haven't mentioned this.

I can research it. Thank you. No I'm not a coffee drinker. Is there something to that? Milk and water is my choice.

I discovered tyrosine protects you from the sun during a time I couldn't drink coffee I was coming out in blotches as soon as I drank coffee again I had no problem I think coffee also promotes melaninI have one large cup of real coffee every morning - Columbian is my favourite why don't you try coffee ?
