Hello new here. I am fair skinned but have malasma developing all over my face which is really getting me down as even my dermablend scar makeup is not covering it anymore. Any advice of products or experiences would be gratefully recieved.

I have a similar problem and can completely understand the stress of having a multi-pigmented skin. Honestly, I've realized Melasma is one stubborn condition that requires a lot, and I mean A LOT of care and an extensive treatment therapy that I couldn't follow at all. So I've just resorted to using concealer makeup everyday.

However, I have visited various dermatologists and they've all recommended different things. One of them suggested I need to reduce my exposure to the sun, although that didnt personally help. Another told me to adopt healthier eating habits and diet but that's all BS. That didn't work.

As far as meds/creams go, I use a sunblock regularly now. Not sure if that helps the melasma in particular but it does help it from getting worse. Another cream a dermatologist recommended was 'Max Diff' Cream (look it up). Or you can try something with hyluronic acid or sallicylic acid. I haven't started Max Diff yet, but I intend to in the next month. However, don't expect immediate results. You'll have to keep the dose going for months, perhaps years to get results.

I've also heard Meladerm (Amazon: amazon.com/Meladerm-Lighten... )is really good, although a bit expensive. It's not available where I live so I haven't tried it myself but the reviews online are pretty good.

A cousin of mine had a similar condition and she had regular beauty facials that I guess helped in some way. Also, she took flax seed oil regularly and that's super healthy. Her melasma seriously became non-existent in less than a year and she had even more melasma than I do.

Oh and if you can afford it, laser treatment might be the last resort.

Thank you for your reply. Can i ask what colour skin you have? Im quite fair. I was going to try ecuerin even brighter which is about £20, i used to use fade out on my freckles when i was younger and that brand worked for me.

Try Desitin Maximum Strength. It has zinc-oxide which protects the skin from moisture, UVA and UVB sun exposure.

Thank you. This sounds like it would act as a great sun screen however it will not get rid of malasma as it is not a lightening cream its a rash cream.
