Hi there, biologics are receptor-targeted therapies that are usually only given when there is a poor response to topical therapy, UVB phototherapy, PUVA or systemic therapy. It can also be prescribed in cases where psoriasis covers 10-15% of body, or if there is a negative impact in quality of life.

Biologics are a range of medications which lower the immune system and target specific genes I've had a range of biological medications infliximab, humiera, etanercept and am currently on ustekinumab injections together with mycophenolate mofetil immunosuppressant tablets. I've had severe psoriasis & arthritis for 26yrs since I was 11. I have tried every cream imaginable as well as puva, uvb & the tablets & biologics, I'm currently waiting to find out if the NHS will fund me trying a brand new biologic which has just been licensed.

We are still looking for people from Manchester! Email lisa@britishskinfoundation.org.uk for more info.
