Hello, New to this community. Our 24 YO daughter was hospitalized on Friday due to recent exacerbation of her OCD. She had an initial OCD diagnosis at age 8, but symptoms have changed over time (and she has been relatively symptom free for long periods.) Since December 2022 she has had spells when she was extremely fearful that some minor physical symptom might be a warning of a potentially life-threatening medical event (stroke, heart attack, pulmonary embolism...) She has been to an ER 10 times this year with these concerns, with 5 of those trips occurring in the past two weeks. She is mostly aware that these fears are probably irrational, but (you know)....She went into acute psych care on Friday in response to this recent intensification of her symptoms--her choice, with our support. We have been told that she will probably be referred out to residential care or a partial hospitalization program in the near future, and are trying to get more information about options that may be available. I have already learned from this site that waiting lists for the top residential programs (or at least those that take insurance) are months long. We do have one residential OCD-specific program that accepts insurance locally--the Newport Institute has a program in Leesburg, VA, about 45 miles from us. However, I note that they are not listed in the IOCDF directory of such programs, and I see that there are many negative reports about other Newport Academy/Newport Institute locations. Is anyone familiar with this particular program/location? My wife and I would like to know more before we discuss our daughter's outplacement, which may occur as soon as this coming week. Thank you!
