There is a word that never goes out of my mind.

I want you to imagine what happened to me so you can understand the situation I'm in. First, imagine a word, especially an adjective. Mine was the word nonsense. Now let this word be in front of your eyes. Those who don't want to do it after this, don't do it because things can get serious like my disease. Well, now repeat this word in front of your eyes and place it in everything you see. Try to have this word in everything that comes to your mind. Try to make sure that word never goes out of your mind and stick with it for hours. Call everything nonsense, nonsense, nonsense or your word. After a few hours, you will see that the word is now before your eyes against your will. If it goes out of your sight, imagine it again and try to make sure it doesn't go out of your sight. If you continue this for a few days, you will find that you wake up one morning with this word in front of your eyes. If you don't have this word in your past memories, put it in them too. It's okay if you do nothing after that. If you go on like this for a few months, you will find that this word is in everything in your mind and you will not be able to get it out of your mind. I haven't been able to get this word out of my mind for 2 years. We tried a lot of drug treatments: none of them worked in the least. I added different lines to that word a month ago, and now I have a jumbled up word. In this way, everything is very difficult, I don't even know if there is a person like me in the world, I don't even know if there is a cure. Is suicide the only solution? Please someone help me because no one has been able to help so far.

This sounds like the basic idea that if you think of “pink elephants” that is all you are going to see. It’s just your mind taking over. Intrusive thoughts is a lot of OCD. Try to stop thinking so much about the word.

Dear Moses,

I can guarantee you that you are not the only one on earth who has this, so you are not alone. I have 2 thoughts: 1) ask for a referral to a neurologist. I had a science teacher in high school who had a seizure disorder and certain words would run through his head right before a seizure. It will definitely be a pair of fresh eyes. 2) instead of telling yourself NOT to think about nonsense, tell yourself that you are going to think about it nonstop all day. Sing it, make a dance to it, post it on your fridge, tattoo it on your arms, go all in. That might paradoxically help 🌞. Good luck!! 😊

Hi MosesThat is something I struggled with years ago too . My word was “NOT”.

I would say “Not, Not going to bathroom “ or “Not Not picking up that cup”.

And many many many more examples of using the word “NOT”.

I had same issue where it took over things. I would even incorporate it into conversations with people and I’d repeat it . They couldn’t understand what I was doing. Sometimes they would ask me why I did that , and I had no answer for it.

This was all happening before I had even been diagnosed with OCD. I lived like that for a long time. But, I want you to know that I got through that . It wasn’t easy, but eventually I got the point where you are and I began to force myself to refrain from saying it.

It was painful and extremely difficult, but eventually my OCD transformed into something different. I honestly probably ended up performing a different ritual in place of it, and that probably had its own difficulty with it. But it subsided and now today I haven pretty much beaten that part of OCD. Sometimes it wants to come back, and does to an extent. But it is definitely possible to get better. Please please try to use this to realize there is hope. Don’t give up . I need you . WE ALL need you . Because we all need to stick together.

Hang in there please and definitely go to doctor or hospital and get help .
