Have a daily worry time

I recently read about this technique, and thought I would share it with others.

1: I set aside two daily worry times of 10 minutes each.

2: I Spend the entire time thinking about your worries on one subject.

3: I try not to think of positive alternatives or reassuring thoughts only negative ones.

4: I continue to the end of the worry period even if you run out of ideas and have to go over the same worries again.

5: After the ten minutes I try to let go of those worries with some calming breathes.

The article advises trying this for at least 10 days (I am on day four) but I will keep it going to see if it makes a difference and let you know.

This is a technique that my counselor has talked about. The key is to not respond to the worries if they pop up during other times in the day right? And as you say to focus exclusively on the worries/obsession/intrusive thoughts for the entire time.

I am trying not to respond to this worry. Instead I tell myself I will worry about the worry and other worries later and it is helping.
