Hey, everyone. Hope you’re doing as well as possible. Glad to be here with you all!

Does OCD come in waves for you? I feel like I’m on a roller coaster. I’m doing much better now, but I feel like another drop is coming...

Yesterday, I felt like OCD wasn’t a big part of my life, but I know it has been for many years.

I'm a life long sufferer of OCD. With the exception of hoarding, I've experienced every type. In the beginning, it was very cyclical. Very high, highs and very low, lows. (No, I'm not bipolar). The particular flavor of OCD I was going through at the time would wax and wane, along with the depression, which went hand in hand. Over the years, however the highs and lows have reduced substantially. The more of a handle you get on OCD, the less your swings will be.

Hi! I’ve been dealing with my ocd for the past year. Some weeks I forget I even have it and some weeks it’s all I think about. But as I progress it’ll be months I forget and then just a few days of OCD. It depends on your mood! If you are tired or hungry and stressed it will most likely peak, you just have to learn to do active coping!

Yeeeeeessss, that is exactly how it has been for me as well, it is so frustrating sometimes for me, because whenever I have finally gotten over one really bad episode I am happy and feel really good for some time but then it just always hits me again with a new and even worse one, and then I get happy again and it just kinda comes and goes in waves as you say, but it also gets better every time because I am getting help and I am actually getting much better but I am just still reeeaaaally scared about what is gonna come next and stuff like that but yes I totally understand you!!

It definitely comes in waves for me. For me I feel at times like the good times make it more likely to strike harder the next time -- kind of like I forget what I have learned. And then it's almost like starting over again. Does anyone else feel that way? It makes me feel like I have to be vigilant even when OCD has less of a hold on me.
