On the NAC trial she said FDA insisted on a dose finding phase. It seems she hoped to get to the "benefit finding" phase more quickly. It will be at least another year to know any results of the dose phase, which is looking at symptom reduction as a primary end point.

Thank you so much David, for finding this doctor and arranging the interview, which was brief and full of important information!

I’ve been taking NAC since I had Covid in June. At the time, 1600mg per day. Since after Covid, I’ve been taking a scoop of this (700mg) every morning. I bought it in bulk form for a fraction of the price of capsule form (warning: not the best taste, but ok if mixed with apple juice 😉). I’ve had 6 light TIAs so am thrilled about those little mice not getting any clots! I feel very good.

I give it to my whole family when they have a cold, etc. My daughter who is fighting 4 stems of Lyme is always much healthier and her mind freer! She just had terrible bronchitis and also taking oregano oil in a carrier oil and also massaging it on her chest, she was over the fever and the green/brown slime in 3 days. So much better than antibiotics!! Also, it helps get rid of alcohol and hangovers fast.

I had Hashimoto, eczema and food intolerances (3 autoimmune problems). Since really taking care to stay organic and follow the AIP diet and taking supplements to fight the depletion that Anagrelide causes and keep my D and B vitamins at OPTIMAL level, not just in the norm range! These Autoimmune problems are gone and Hashimoto has reduced itself by 60%! My ET has stopped getting worse. Since I fixed 2 cavitations (one under the wisdom tooth upper left, which sits in the meridian responsible for blood production in the pelvis, (May 8th), my platelet numbers have gone down on the average by 150/200. 😀

I will continue the NAC. Until now I’ve had no side effects at all.

Be well! Anag

Very interesting report, thank you. I’ve had osteoarthritis since my early 30’s and was diagnosed with ET at the age of 49. I keep having inflammation attacks and a burning sensation all over my bones, wonder if there’s a link between the two conditions…

I have learned that ALL conditions are linked. Any illness is inflammation in the body and inflammation brings imbalances and mutations, which further throw off our body's chemistry. All Natural doctors know this. Western medicine and the Pharma industry needs to dish out billions in research to prove what is already known and if they can't make a medication that will treat something and earn back the billions, they wont do the testing.

My daughter had rheumatoid arthritis when she was 2 and I adamantly refused to give her anything but naprosen and a little bit of cortison. The doctor could have slapped me once since I kept refusing the methotrexate. Well I found a diet that stopped her RA cold, within a month. Protein with high dosed omega3. That is, almost any protein served with flax oil. NO PORK or pork fat!! No cheap sunflower or vegetable oils. too much Omega 6, which spurs on an already overactive immune systen. Has incredicble amounts of arachidonic acid, which inflames the body. Very little beef, more lamb, goat, turkey, chicken (no skin). lots of veggies. I put flax oil even in her milk bottle.

But, her dermatisis developed when she was 5, after 2 years of no RA. It was very little at first and we treated it with creams (dermatologists' favourite job). Cream for this, Cream for that. The dermatitis got really bad by age 13. that was the time I got my ET diagnosis and I went on the AIP diet. Consequently, my family and friends became Paleo. All our immune ailments slowly went away or almost did. After 50 years, my husband's Psoriasis is now half! As soon as he eats breads and milk, the psoriasis, acts up as before.

Also! Its important to get tested for intolerances. I was intolerant to the foods that I mostly ate with wheat: Chocolate (cookies), mushroom (with spaghetti), turkey (cold cuts), eggs (with toast). My daughter was intolerant to zucchini (with pasta), honey (with pancakes). since stopping those products for a few years, now we tolerate them, but dont eat too much of them.

It's worth a try.

Thank you Anag, very interesting story. I’ve been thinking of getting tested for food intolerances to see if my inflammation will be reduced at all. There are days that I feel that my body is on fire!

Will try and follow your advice.

Thanks again, Tina

That’s a super idea. I know what a burning body feels like.

I never could believe that I had food allergies. My parents are from the maintains of the Pelopones in Greece. Many in my family up to 96 years old. Only the strongest survived, yet I had many. After going on the autoimmune paleo diet cold turkey and staying on it for 8 months, huge changes in my body happened. Then the test. I are one small, delicious whole meal bun at a posh lunch, with a bit of butter. Oh yummy! Within a 1/2 hour, my belly was bursting, I had to go to the WC, open the back zipper of my dress and wear a jacket over it. I thought I would explode. Never got tested for gluten, so I saved 130€. This happened 2 more times. That was enough. Never again. Same with A (Holstein cow) milk. But I can tolerate organic goat or sheep milk (B milk). Many foods today are terribly gene manipulated!! Esp: grains and corn.

Try doing the Imupro allergy/intolerance testing. They get about 95 basic foods tested for 200€. It’s just a blood (antibody) test. Results really quick. You can test many more than that also. It was the fastest and cheapest way here in Austria.

Thank you Anag for the link. Unfortunately they don’t have a branch in the UK but will look for something similar here.

What a coincidence, my parents are from Northern Greece :)

Will let you know if I manage to get the tests done soon, will be very interesting to see the results. Well they do say “you are what you eat”!

Have a lovely day,

Tina

Ας πούμε καλησπέρα!

that’s so funny that you’re also of Greek descent! Yay!

The Imupro doesn’t have a branch here. There is one blood lab that uses it. Perhaps you could check around.

The most incredible testing I had was with a bioresonance doctor who uses the quint method. He’s able to measure up to 5000 nutrients, parasites, viruses, bacteria’s, mold types, foods intolerante, infections, etc. He even tested the water from the different taps in my apartment. He was also able to test how burdening each one was for my body.

We have friends flying in from France tomorrow. He has ALS and we are trying everything possible to help him. He’ll do bioresonance, testing and treatment, functional dr, TCM and a full body thermograph to identify anything from cavitations in the jaws to young Tumors and inflammation from head to toe. Then we will know where to start. We’re hoping to put together a treatment team, which I also have for myself. I am so curious. He changed to paleo in the spring and he’s better. Off meds.

Yes! We are what we eat, hear see, smell. Feel. Everything affects us.

καληνύχτα

Angela Fleischman' presentations are always interesting and well done. Thanks for posting the link.

I was interested to hear that the FDA is looking into changing the classification of N-acetylcysteine away from being a dietary supplement. Acetylcysteine has been classified as a regulated drug for quite some time. It is FDA approved for acetaminophen overdose and other purposes. online.epocrates.com/drugs/... . Greater oversight of NAC could be a very good thing, perhaps improving the reliability of this product since it would be considered a drug rather than a supplement. Here is the FDA guidance on this topic, fda.gov/media/157784/downlo....

Thanks for the work you are doing to support the MPN community.

I was following the NAC status closely as I started taking it just as it was kicked off Amazon. It was/is still avail at Whole Foods stores.

The supplement industry worked hard on this. It seems the FDA allowance is conditional and tentative and its labeling needs to be extra careful. But a good guide where the bets are is NAC is back on Amazon so they must feel comfortable it won't get booted again.

I am hopeful that FDA oversight will cause the manufacturers to be more reliable in producing supplements like NAC. unfortunately, some manufacturers are quite lax in the quality of their products. Only time will tell.

That would be a best case outcome and I do hope that happens. I suspect it might be more that mfrs just take more care what's on the label to stay in compliance with FDA rules. (no health claims etc) I've read the NAC trouble started with hangover benefit claims for products that had NAC in them.

nutraingredients-usa.com/Ar...

"Four of the companies, Vita Heaven, Happy Hour Vitamins, LES Labs and Purple Bioscience, were cited for having N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) in their (hangover) formulas."

You may be right. We can hope but not necessarily trust the process. Good reason to stick with reliable companies.
