platelets low

hi all. I have ET and last few blood tests my platelets are getting lower. Has anyone else experienced this please

Are you taking any medication to lower your PLT? Has that med or dose changed recently?

I see were Dx 6 years ago. What numbers have you had in the last few tests?

HiI follow ET groups on Facebook and when your platelets lower fast it could be a sign to get more tests to make sure all is in order

Please don’t worry, mine dropped 850-600 by eating well so it might be a response to diet & lifestyle changes

It depends on what you mean by lower. PLT can routinely cycle by 100k in a single day. My PLT cycled by as much as 200 from time to time. It also depends on whether you are taking cytoreductive meds. There can be other factors as well. Ultimately it is the trend over time that matters.

Have been taking aspirin and Anagrelide for 2/3 yrs and my platelets are now 250-(down from over 700 some time ago).Have also been told to cut dose of anagrelide -which am pleased to do.

I only take aspirin. It’s gone down from 900 to 600. I also have a spleen that is slightly on the higher side of being enlarged

Hi Yasim86, have you chatted with your consultant about this yet? If not I would give them a ring to discuss further. What are the rest of your bloods like besides platelets? As Hunter said above it is trend over time and also platelets can cycle up and down. Hydration at the time of blood test also has an impact. Just as a note. My spleen is and was slightly enlarged also at diagnosis with ET Jak2+. Bx
