First Haematology appointment today

 My husband had his first Haematology appointment today and it was a really good experience. He had a Registrar and 4 th year med student. They confirmed that he has PV . His platelets are little raised not alarmingly so. Un beknown to us they had chart of his RBC and HCT going back 2014. They thought it likely that PV may have caused his 2014 ischaemic stroke. First venesection next Monday afternoon. Give plenty of info , introduced to Haematology Nurse and given a phone number to ring. Two venesectionsto be done at Norfolk and Norwich, then any further can be done at a smaller hospital nearer to us. Recorded the whole thing and made notes. The oncology centre was friendly and welcoming and they did bloods straight away, he was seen 20 minuites early. They also agreed that telephone consultations aren't suitable for Stu, so will stick to F2F. Can only wish the GP had been a fraction as informative and we would have worried less over the last couple of weeks.

That is really good news. Sounds like you received some good information and have a plan to start care. I hope you got a copy of the labs going back so you can review them in more detail. It is always a good idea to keep your own running record.

Good to hear you were happy with N and N . It's my hospital to. Excellent idea to record as sometimes it's a lot to take in
