What is protocol for covid vaccine when on hydroxy urea
Not for sure what you mean by protocol. I’m on hydrea with et and hemo and gp just said get it when I’m contacted. Still considering it tho.
Perfectly fine. Go ahead. I had my last weekend.
Hi Petsch, if you mean having the vaccine we have information on our website mpnvoice.org.uk/news/covid-...
I mean should I discontinue using hydroxy for any time before during or after vaccine
you should not stop your hydroxycarbamide, unless there is another reason to do so, your haematologist will have or will inform you if this is the case.
Sorry I can't help but you should have a high priority for vaccine while o nHydroxurea/Hydroxycarbamide
As far as I know, you should not stop taking your hydroxy. Also, as far as I know, we should not have any live vaccines when on this medication. The Astra Zeneca vaccine is based on a live virus (not Covid) but I intend to speak to my Haematology consultant to check whether or not I should avoid this vaccine and ask to have the Pfizer or Moderna instead. Perhaps it is best you also consult your specialist to find out. All the best
I'm more or less positive neither vaccines are live im sure that has been on another post previously a Dr put it on here
the COVID vaccines are not live.
I realise that but should I get off drug for a bit before during or after
The advice from Prof Harrison is not to stop any medication unless advised by your own heamatologist.
