Compromised immune system

My wife has MF and no spleen. Being on hydroxy and anagrelide her platelets are within normal limits. Her white cell count is always high though. The consultant seemed to think that the white cell count was ok when we asked if it might be worse or better if she ever caught covid. Last night on BBC was a programme on immunity. In it was a bit about NLR (neutrophil leukocyte ratio). We calculated her NLR which came in around 17 to 30 over 1 which comes out as though she has a raging infection. She hasn't. Her leukocyte count varies a little but is between 0.3 and 1.07, while the neutrophil count is around 17. My own NLR is 2 which is bang on middle of normal, yet my own leukocyte count is around 1 and neutrophil count is 2 both of which are on the low side of normal. Having also read that a leukocyte count of below 1.1 and catching covid is basically a death sentence, we are both very concerned.
