How high is your ESR?

Have you had your CRP and LDH checked as well?

All three are inflammation markers and my understanding is that LDH is the one of most interest to our Hems.

Are you taking any drugs? HU or Pegasys?

Best

Yes. The ESR,CRP, and LDH all are high.

The recommended drug is HU.

Normally ESR should logically be low with PV.

This whole experience should be viewed as a constant learning I guess.

Thankyou.

Hi it would be best to speak to your doctor about this. You can read more about ESR blood tests here labtestsonline.org.uk/tests...

Shockingly we found the reason for the extremely , unusually elevated ESR and CRP with PV after all. It seems we have a double whammy of PV with giant cell Arteritis - another extremely rare and dangerous condition ......... so now it is a fight with all knives out for us .

Hi the LDH is definitely most linked to MPNs and other cancer type issues. CRP and ESR are more general inflammatory markers and it can be very difficult to pinpoint the cause of them as they will rise with infection but also in inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple other issues. Would be interesting to know if your wcc and neutrophils are ok as that could be sign of infection although obv in our conditions the WCC can be up anyway. Hopefully they may recheck your CRP/ESR to see if ongoing issue. Good luck

Thankyou. Your reply was thought-provoking. The WCC used to be high but with HU are now OK. It is indeed useful to hear from people about their thoughts regarding symptoms since it helps to get perspectives .Thankyou again .
