I had a I had a flu jab last Saturday and last night I have a terrible night's sleep and now I have flu! I have myelofibrosis and I spoke to my blood nurses I call him and he hadn't heard of the problem, I take 10mg of Jacobi or ruxolitinib each day and I'm wondering if anybody else has the symptoms

Best wishes from Michael

Michael I'm sorry to hear you have flu. A friend of mine in Sheffield had the same thing happen and was told that the vaccine takes a while to become effective and if the nasty bugs get to you before that happens it is very bad luck and not fun at all. I hope you are soon better. I had the flu jab every year I was on Ruxolitinib and had no problem. But when I had the pneumonia vaccine I had a very bad reaction.

Hi Michael, every sympathy. I ended up with a very red sore arm plus flu like symptoms for about 5 days. Whether this was due to the jab or a virus I'm not sure. I certainly felt bad especially on two nights.

I'm feeling better now so hopefully you will too very soon.

Kindest regards Aime xx😺😺

Hi

Sorry you have got the flu but is it possible that you were infected before you had the jab? I have for about 12 years, had the flu vaccination but the only reaction I get, is a bit of soreness and a tiny increased temperature for about 2 days.

I am glad I have had it now as my husband has been really really ill with it for 3 weeks soon.

I have heard that it takes up to 3 days for the body to make anti-bodies so we might be wonderable during those days, who knows.

Hope you recover soon!

Hi Michael,

I had the flu jab Saturday morning and by the evening I was starting a cold which has now become full blown. I had a hospital appointment today and the heam said that the vaccine can cause flu symptoms.

It's never happened to me before, usually I get a red swollen arm, very hot, hard and itchy but this year it is only slightly red and itchy. As the vaccine changes each year maybe this year is the one that will affect more people.

I hope you start to get better soon.

Hello Michael

To the best of my knowledge and that of my excellent GP, the vaccine is dead so will not give us flu proper. As I find the jab in my arm really painful, itchy and hot he suggested that I have it in my bottom each year. Things are perfect, no discomfort at all and I had my jab a week ago. I do remember some years ago having the most awful cold which seemed to come after the vaccination but think I must have been carrying the virus at the time.

Wish you well soon because flu is the worst. Drink lots of Vit C.

If you want my advice go to the hospital! They must take care of you!! You should have had an X-ray before the flu jab. The same happened to my 90 year old mother (she was with hydroxyuria) and after 15 days with flu symptoms I lost her.

Thank you Kelly. It is a very strange coincidence. I have been having flu jabs for many years and never known it like this before. I usually get a sore arm for a few days. I am still moving from cold to hot several times during the day and my balance is not good. Maybe I did have the flu about me before the jab but Monday I was very busy clearing cupboards and had no problems. A few others on here have had similar to me.

Best wishes

Michael

That is very sad about your mother.

If it hasn't cleared in a few days time I will visit the doctor

I also did not know unfortunately and no doctor ever told me that one must have a chest X-ray before the vaccine to be sure there are no flu remnants in the body! The same happened to a friend of my mother’s who was aged but she went to the hospital and saved her life. My mother felt unwell the moment she had the vaccine. All the best

The Flu vaccine no longer has a live virus therefore you can not get the flu from the vaccine. Maybe it is not the flu or you had it before you got the shot.

Hi Guys, I was reading my info I got with my flu jab and it says it can't give you flu but you can have side effects. When you read the list, they agree with what we've all been experiencing.

Hope you all feel better soon. Aime xx😺😺
