I've used Atlas Direct before and paid a small additional premium after declaring my ET but nothing like £400 for a single trip

Hi Tasslebag - I was diagnosed in 2003 at age 47 - not sure how long I'd had ET before that as it just came up on a routine blood test!

I've never had a problem with travel or getting insured it's a pleasant surprise that insurers recognise ET and don't load premiums too heavily.

Enjoy your travels too!

Hi £400. Is very high for single trip. I have not even paid that much when I went to the USA. Staysure is good they are familiar with our condition , There is a section on insurance on this site also. It's always wise to get several quotes it's amazing how they vary.

Good luck. Sandy

I've had ET 6 years, aspirin only, I travel to USA every year, never paid that much for insurance. At the moment my travel insurance is through nationwide flex account , amongst other benefits for a monthly fee £10, I declared my existing medical conditions, ET, high blood pressure and malignant skin cancer and there was no extra charge. They had even heard of ET.. you do have to be under age 75. If older I believe there is an additional fee.

I agree with the others. Staysure is very reasonable, they have never loaded the premium for my PV although my premium has increased now as I broke my elbow 12 months ago. Obviously it depends on age and any other health issues. Shop around. Mpn website also has a list of insurers.

Good luck

Hi I have et jak2+and used staysure . I am 60 year as old and saga would only do single trips ins which was very high, like yours. Staysure covered condition and couple other things and I paid £128 anual worldwide ins. It would be less but I paid extra to have zero excess. Sage wanted that for a 2 week trip!

You can get quite on line by adding your medical condition.

Hope they can give you a good quote and enjoy your hols

I shop around a lot as things change from one trip to another. I have MF and for our trips to Croatia and Italy this year Age UK gave the best like for like quote.

Try Staysure. I'm 51 with ET, on hydroxy. Got annual insurance for Europe, including my children, for around £100. And get your trip to Spain booked - we all need a break now and then! Have a lovely time :).

Hi I recently went with "insure and go" for a single trip of £18

There are quite a few on the comparison sites that are all very reasonable. I guess if you've had previous clots it would push the cost up!

Good luck
