HU has really killed my desire to eat, has anyone got any tips on getting over this?

I'm eating but nothing like I should.

You don't say how long you've been on HU. This happened to me at first but I have found taking the HU before bed has helped. I eat smaller amounts now and more often.

Hi Richard, I'd recommend taking the Hu at bed time, then hopefully you sleep through any side effects. Also eat what you fancy when you fancy, I had a spate of having Magnum ice creams ((very calorific) almost every day for a while. Fortunately things settled and I got back to normal! Best wishes, Frances.

Hello Richard

Do you like bananas? Eating one of those with a glass of milk gives you masses of goodness. Try it two or three times a day. Also coconut yoghurt.

Hi Richard, you could speak to your GP about this and perhaps ask about being referred to a dietician for their advice. Maz

Hi Maz, thanks fir that.

I know I've asked you before but I cant find your reply. Have you got the name of a specialist nurse in the Glasgow area as I need to speak to someone other than my haematologist

many thanks

Same with me! Never quite sure whether the fatigue is partly caused by the lack of appetite or vice versa. I always take HU in the evening, with food.

Oddly, I haven't lost any weight whatsoever but do worry about not getting all the vitamins and minerals I need.

Will take Maz's advice and speak to my GP - haven't seen him in over two years so I can't be too bad but it's probably about time to touch base anyway.
