24yr old skull change

Hello everyone'

I'm 24 yrs old and within the last 2 years or so I have noticed that the right side of my head above my temple seems to be indented. It's a lot different from the other side and it almost feels like a shelf that extends about two inches towards the back of my head. I haven't noticed it until this point but I know for sure from pictures it has not always been like this. I also suffer from a receeding hairline that is much more noticeable on that side.

I have been researching and researching answers to my skull change and have yet to figure out if I should be concerned or not. I'm currently in the military overseas so my options tomget checked out are limited. Thank you all in advance for your help.

Hi Brandon.

I have exactly the same thing. Initially I thought something was seriously wrong with my skull and was scared.

The first doctor I spoke to wasn't much help and laughed at me saying I must have always had it and just not noticed!!!!

He did send me for a skull X-ray and the results showed I had a couple of small venous lakes which apparently are harmless. However I was experiencing severe headaches and knew something else was wrong.

Back I went to my surgery but insisted on seeing a different doctor. Luckily she listened and referred me to a neurologist.

This time I had a head CT scan which showed I have several benign lesions on top of my skull - hence the dent. Also at times I could, and still can, feel blood rushing over the top of parts of my skull. He explained it's something you can live with.

He ran lots of blood tests too which led to me discovering I have ET - CALR+. I now feel much better and have an excellent haematologist looking after me.

I have recently noticed another dent appearing not too far from the first one and may go back to the neurologist for a follow up just to be on the safe side.

I would recommend seeing a neurologist and getting checked out. Also don't be put off by a doctor who doesn't listen or believe you. If this happens get a second opinion.

Hi this is so interesting to read. I also noticed changes in my skull around doth same time as I was diagnosed with PV. I have never mentioned it to any one as I thought I was being paranoid. I will get it checked out. Thank you for posting

Same thing happen to me now it's my second day after my check up in neurologist but my doctor said he sees nothing abnormalities on me he conducted several test but sees nothing to worry about but i feel difference within my skull although nothing happens any severe pain..sometimes i feel headache but a few minutes it relieve..same thing i feel some rideges when i touch my skull.. Although my doctor said it s normal i still feel worries
