I am a 59 year male diagnosed 2 years ago with PV. I am on hydroxycarbamide, 2 x 500mg tablets 3 days a week and 3 x 500mg tablets on the other four days. My blood counts in July and October when I attended clinic were within range but an electrolytes test in July revealed a low phosphate level in my system although I wasn't aware that I had any symptoms. My GP put me on phosphorus tablets and the level came right. I have just been advised that my October test revealed an even lower phosphate level so back on the phosphorus tablets I go, they taste like refreshers sweets for those that remember them. It may be that this has absolutely nothing to do with PV or the medication but I thought this was the ideal place to ask whether or not anyone else has experienced low phosphate levels.
