Just been the same Shelley, sometimes I feel like giving up ,fatigue really gets me down, extra Hydrea for me at the moment as hct way too high, that makes for depression too.I think we must try to look forward,we all get these awful times, you are not alone, tho it does seem so.....I walk and play with my dogs, get outside as much as poss, energy is low like you, legs difficult to move properly, have to rest.....try to do something you want to do,remember everyone on this site will feel for you and will respond.Keep positive, very best wishes, better times will come.

Poor you such a lonely horrible feeling , we've all been there, just listen to your body and rest as much as possible , be totally selfish and put yourself first. Give it a few days and you will start to perk up . I get down for about 10 days and am back on course again. Wish you better we are all here spurring you on x x x

Hi Shelly sorry to hear its a rough patch I do feel for you they come on so quick and so often we can't even pinpoint why we feel so rough compared to the previous week - I so know that feeling of no energy don't want people round just want stare into space no energy to cook or anything - good idea to be tucked up with the beauties that are dogs ( their kind brown eyes always work a treat don't they) and just get a little air and stroll when you can and know it will pass again and you will be able to do a little more - we all "get it" on here and that's the biggest help -.fellow feeling from others that live with MPNs.

I really understand how you feel. It does all become overwhelming and we can become in a low down mood. But we have to pull up our bootstraps and press on. It is so very hard but we need to do it for ourselves and also those near to us. I actually went out 2 days this week and I had not driven in a month. I was so proud of myself.

I try and that is the best I can do. Live life and love you. I agree with all the others. ..pamper yourself. Do all the things you always wanted to do. It's time. Blessings, Janet

Hi Shelly, sorry to hear you are not feeling good at the moment, as everyone else has said we have all been there. i have been off work since December, suffering mostly with fatigue and there is a difference between feeling tired and having now energy, i deal with that by doing 20/30 mins of activity maybe showering or a little walk etc then i rest before i do another activity, but when the total exhaustion hits me i can not do anything! i mostly sleep, i lose my concentration so tv or reading are even hard to muster the energy to do. i have just come out of 10 days of feeling like this and its always the same, i wake up and its my mind i notice first it seems brighter and i am ready to start building my energy up again. it will pass, dont be hard on yourself, enjoy your cuddles from your dogs and the light will shine soon......

Hi Shelley, you poor soul but you are not alone as you have seen already from the amount of replies! Yes the fatigue is awful but you can fight it. My usual process to fight is: a good howl, chocolate, go out for short walk, speak to my best pal who survived breast cancer, spoil myself - buy something I really want if I can go and get it. I know there are people worse off than me. I post on this forum - that's the best way, as I know there a bunch of lovely people who know exactly how I am feeling! This reply is full of hugs and best wishes. My GP too has been quite sympathetic which does make a difference. XxxxxxxxAime

Hi Shelly . I sympathise , this is exactly how I felt for a few days last week, alongside feelings of guilt as I was just doing nothing....this is bad when you can see so many jobs to do in the home.... Then on Monday my energy ( such as it is ! ) returned so I went into the garden and got lots of work done. Don't ask me why this slump of physical and emotional occurs. Take heart that we are all understanding theses feelings and know they will pass . As others have said listen to your body. All the best Sandy x

Hello Shelley

A big hug first of all and then words to say that I know exactly how you are feeling. Lucky you having your dogs, I said goodbye to my last dog a few years ago and because we moved to an apartment have never replaced her...miss her so much. When I went through a really bad patch for several months last year I used to pretend she was on the bed with me and it helped, just what you are doing. Thing is going out can be difficult when we are feeling really down but we live overlooking the River Thames and I find watching the swans and geese, not to say the cheeky ducks therapeutic. I find a comfy spot to sit and it is amazing how the time flies as I watch. I talk to them also and tell them how I am feeling - making sure no other human is around!

I also write and find that helps. I write how I am feeling, really feeling and then take a match to the feelings and as the paper burns I imagine my thoughts disappearing in the smoke. (Do this somewhere safe like the kitchen sink) When I feel better, I write that too but keep these thoughts and it reminds me that everything passes. If this feeling goes on without lifting perhaps a word with your GP would be useful - mine was very sympathetic and put me on a mild anti-depressant which I still take. I got so anxious, do you?

Above all else, we care about you even if it is only by e mail. Have you tried sniffing lavender by any chance as I find that tremendously soothing. The fatigue is beastly, seems to go with territory and I dread it, but like I said before it will pass, promise.

Lots of good wishes Shelley

Hi Shelley and all the lovely people who responded to you. Two days ago I had an amazing day loads of energy cleaned the whole house. I am now on my second day of being in a black hole. I understand how you feel as does everyone else on here. I'm trying to learn to make the most of the all too rare good days and accept the bad ones as a time to rest and talk to people in this forum. xx

I would just like to say thank you for all who contributed I have been looking and your support was amazing thank you but I have not been up to talking on the board or meeting people but that is getting better slowly hasn't helped as had an op but because I didn't get the care I needed had to use my right arm to soon and have caused an impingement and inflammation which means I cant transfer at present as left side doesn't work properly but daughter put hot tub up in a bid to help me thank you all once again

Aime profile image

Oh you poor soul. Try and remember we are all here for you. Impingement and inflammatory problems are rotten to cope with on top of an MPN. I had my right shoulder and collar bone operated on twice to release an impingement which caused a lot of pain and inflammation. Now after cortisone jabs and a year of pain my left shoulder is needing done. Arm v sore to hold things, lie on and use in general. I now tell surgeons what I want done! I know how you feel, hugs sent with this message and loads of sympathy.xxxxxxxx Aime
