I have never read anything in the literature that would suggest that it is. I am taking it and have never had radio-activity mentioned. Why do you think it might be??

Dunno if this helps any but the clinical pharmacology for Rux describes 'Elimination' which refers to the rate at which radiation deposited in a living organism leaves it. Of course some of it sails atop my head but you can read about half lifes etc on wikipedia or similar. It states;

Elimination - Following a single oral dose of [14C]-labeled ruxolitinib in healthy adult subjects, elimination was predominately through metabolism with 74% of radioactivity excreted in urine and 22% excretion via feces. Unchanged drug accounted for less than 1% of the excreted total radioactivity. The mean elimination half-life of ruxolitinib is approximately 3 hours and the mean half-life of ruxolitinib + metabolites is approximately 5.8 hours. - See more at: jakafi.com/clinical-pharmac...

Cheers

Many Thanks. I'll need a science teacher to interpret this. But getting there!

Hi Selkie, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I have checked with Prof Harrison and she has said that it is definitely NOT radioactive. Kind regards, Maz

Hey Selkie Very good luck on your Rux. Please will you let me know how you get on with it as its probably the next step for me though Im unsure when. Hopefully it will work for you and alleviate your symptoms. I also have a enlarged spleen - just below my naval - which causes a few problems. Thanks.

Im happy to share my experience on Ruxo. Just started this week on 40mg per day, 20mg taken am and pm 12 hours apart. So far have no side-effects at all! Hope things remain this way. I am to attend my clinic weekly and have bloods checked so the dosage can be adjusted accordingly. My platelets are already quite good (700) so not concerned of the risk of platelet suppression as yet. My white cells are quite high (43) and have doubled since May, that's a concern, as progression to anemia is a possibility on Ruxo. My spleen is extremely large, an ultra sound next week will give accurate measurement, but 22x27 inches now. I have very severe night sweats also. Reduction of spleen is my expectation of this drug.
