Bad taste in my mouth

I've got a bad taste, almost metallic, in my mouth that developed 6 weeks after a partial thyroidectomy. Could this be the cause?
Dentists !!!!!!!....... I was looking for answers and some advice; however I left the surgery non the wiser !!!!!....Need to rant !!!!
