Has anybody had success with a daith piercing? There really is a mix of opinions out there on this subject!

Hi, yes I’ve had mine done and’touch wood’ I’ve only had a couple of mild migraines since. It’s worth a go, what have you got to lose?

Mine seemed to help for the first few months but then I was back to 4-5 migraines a week. They took almost a year to heal and were a total pain. I wish they had made a difference but my migraines are from a concussion and neck injury 2.5 years ago so I don’t think the piercings stood a chance. I have heard that they might work better for digestive migraines.

Have you tried acupuncture? Didn't help me but I know someone who was totally relieved of her migraines with it. Good luck and bless your heart!!!

Didn’t help me, I had it pierced at a migraine clinic. Still hasn’t fully healed after over a year, but glad I tried.

Hello,

I had it done couple of years ago and my piercer at the time said there was no scientific evidence to back it up. I got the piercing done for aestetical reasons and decided that if it works for migraines that's just added bonus. I would say that my migraines on the side I got the piercing done were less frequent but with passage of time I think it was just placebo effect and can now identify that my left side migraines are related to dehydration and are less frequent because I pay more attention to drinking enough water.

I would say get it done if you like the way the piercing looks but don't rely on it as a cure for migraine. Also you may care to know that it takes quite a long time to heal as the cartilage is quite thick in this area. Good luck x

I had mine done over 3 years ago. I didn’t have a headache for three whole weeks after but gradually they started coming back although less frequent and less intense.

I had both sides pierced for migraine relief. I can't really say I have noticed a difference. The first few months may have been the placebo effect but like all previously tried medications the migraine found a way back!!!!

I got the Daith piercing about 5 years ago with the intention of getting both ears done but it hurt as much as birthing a baby so just got the one. Did nothing for my migraines but I do know someone who was totally relieved of all her migraines with the Daith piercing and she got both her ears done and she told me it didn't hurt her. Anyway, if you're like me, you'll try just about anything so go for it and good luck!!!
