I’m not on preventative meds but heading there. While my migraines are not severely painful, the weary, worn out, noise sensitive, brain concussion sensations (woozy fuzzy head) symptoms are nonstop, plus very stiff sore neck, etc. I’m curious- has anyone had success with treatment using Botox or Aimovig, etc. and have had either of these meds help with the other frustrating migraine symptoms?
Thanks...

I just gave myself my third Aimovig injection. I've taken Amerge (triptan) only six times since starting Aimovig. Before Aimovig I was taking 18 Amerge per month on average. It has also relieved my neck discomfort. I still get tension type headaches (chronic) but I'm not constantly rubbing and stretching my neck anymore. It still happens along with headache but it's not constant like it used to be. Also... Amerge never used to help my menstrual type migraine, but it does now that I'm on Aimovig.
I think Botox did help the other symptoms if they do the injections right. I have neck problems caused by long term chronic migraines so I have muscle spasm all down one side so the neurologist that gives me the Botox spreads the injections out more around my neck otherwise the Botox can make it worse. You absolutely have to have at least 2 rounds to know if it works for you though. I was a complete mess after the first session and tried to not let them give me the second round but everyday I'm grateful they convinced me to have second dose as it's been life changing for me. I had to give up Botox for pregnancy and breast feeding, the month before I gave up I had 18 full blown migraine days out of 30 then I had the Botox and I've only taken 2 Zomigs (triptan) in 24 days. You still have to limit your use of painkillers to 6 days a month if your migraines are chronic but I couldn't recommend it enough. Everybody is different though.
My neurologist said the new CGRP injections are more expensive so while I'm responding to Botox she doesn't want to switch treatments but it is nice knowing if the Botox stops working I have another option.
