Hi Everyone,

Not sure if anyone ever faced or heard of this symptom . I am woman in my 20's and for several years now I have this type of headache where I feel my head is heave and full of water and body is weak .

I already went to more than one doctor and they simply never heard of my case and they just give me pain killers (simply ignoring the case as just some type of migraine ).

I did an RMI last year and they didnt find anything unusual .

What is this headache I just need a starting point to know where to look and to convince my doctors to refer me to the right specialization .

Thanks

Hey Headwater pain,

Your one step ahead of me having an MRI, people don't seem to appreciate the pain sides of this but if i was you i would just talk to another doctor or try to speed it up by seeing a private specialist by paying or ie when i had knee issue, it cost me like £60.00 for 1/2 hour consultation, might be worth it to see if you can pay to see a private doctor to refer you to a specialist on the NHS. How long before you was offered an MRI?

I also have a pressure type feeling but i lost vision in one eye temporarily. I had to ask them to take my blood pressure i was skeptical about being told mine was optical migraines. Do you ever get stabbing pains separate from the migraine location?

I am located in Canada so not the same system but it took me approx 1 year till i got my MRI and the reason for the MRI was related to unexplained vertigo that I still have it but not as much as before.

for the stabbing pain once I had Occipital Neuralgia which is stabbing pain with electric shock pain but it went away by itself after maybe 2 months

Ah, im not to sure then what you can do in Canada. Good luck anyway. I have been on the ichd-3.org to help see if this will help me understand any miscommunication regarding terminology on migraines and information, might be worth looking here to see if you can fit a profile to speed things up and i am now keeping a diary.

I'm so sorry that you have such pain. i am chronic migrane guy.

your goal has to be to get to a good specialist ASAP, and it will probably take a bit of effort. IMO, your current doctor is not helping you enough. I think that you must to go to another family doctor for a quick referal or directly to a specialist. I know the Canadian system is not that flexible and sometimes slow, but if you can afford it, you can find a private specialist in Canada or you can go find one in the US. do you have any family or friends in the healthcare system that could help you navigate the system to speed things up? And it can't hurt to be persistent and insistent (yet charming) when trying to get things accelerated - the squeaky (but friendly) wheel can sometimes get more oil.

in the meantime, you are in canada - have you tried cephaly, the migraine TENS machine? I'm having good luck with it. I think you can order it from CostCo in Canada.

Best of luck.

It just sounds like normal migraine to me. I have chronic migraines, I have them 50%-70% of the time. The pain never stays the same. Being a neurological condition it produces lots of strange artifacts, I wouldn't get too distracted by precise types of pain, it is enough that you are having persistent and distressing pain. It's all migraine in the end, the doctors will always have to rule out the most likely things first. Part of your diagnosis will inevitably drawn from how you respond to various meds. Only then will they consider looking more deeply, it's usually lots of trial by error. It's mainly about being a squeaky wheel at this point in time.

You might have Basilar Migraines if you have had a scan of your head and it shows nothing. They can leave you with very low energy as they can last for ages to days

I think by your description of fluid your possible warding off many in the medical field. even tho its probably what you have interpreted your pain to feel like, I;d avoid giving that to doctors it might be limiting their scope
