Cocktail to treat mirgraines

The last 2 times I was in the ER due to 4 or 5 day migraines they gave me a cocktail to stop the pain. Of course this is done through an IV, but I try think anyone can do it at home. It starts with Benadryl, the Tordall (I think this is an anti-infamatory) and the an anti-vomitting medication. Then lots of hydration.

So we could do this at home if we don't have Tordall we just use whatever pain medication, but adding the other two would work.

Just wanted to share so if people are going to the ER they could request it.

Hi, Thanks for posting, will try this with tablets and see what happens.

Antihistamines used to work for migraines - they decreased in intensity - but I was told by a pharmacist that antihistamines don't work on migraines.

As soon as they gave me the benadryl I started to feel better.

I use antihistamines when I have migraine too, recommended by neuro, along with bucastem (dissolve on the gum anti sickness meds) and strong anti inflammatories, diet coke, or soda water.

Just curious does the migraine go away after you take it? Mine decrease but don't go away. I would say I start at a pain scale of 8 or 9 when I take it and it only come down to a 4

Still, I can live with a 4.

What if you cant take strong anti inflammatories ? what then. Im just recovering from a Hormonal Migraine.. not had a period for 3 month & a migraine started wednesday.. in bed with it all day thursday.. vomiting.. nothing stayed down at all. I basically had to sleep it off. A period has started last night (Friday).. My problem is I cant take Ibuprofen.. I have used Migraleve Pink and yellow tablets in the past with some results ( doesnt totally take it away) but none in the shops at minute? My pharmaicist basically said all that is , is Co~Codamol anyway ( pink tablet) and an anti sickness one (yellow tablet) I will try Benadryl and co codamol ? Plus ask my GP for an antisemitic maybe ? Good idea ? Or any further suggestions ? Im 51 and peri menopausal btw. ... GP did prescribe Tryptophan.. but they didnt work, just made me feel weird.. :/

You're lucky if Toradol works for you, does not work for me at all.

But it is only in injection so I have to schedule and go into my doctor's office to get a shot.. but you are right, I am lucky I can stop the pain right now.
