The last 10 years I have suffered from the above symptoms increasing to up to 5 headaches a week,I usually wake with them.Sometimes when I breath through my nose it increases the pain only in the left nostril passage, everything seems left sided but I do get the odd one on the right side but with no neck pain.Been tried on lots of meds, anyone with these type of symptoms found any relief? Mike.

Mine are the exact same way. Except I've never had even one right sided migraine. I even had septoplasty due to a slightly deviated septum and bone spurs in my left sinus. That was last summer. I do NOT recommend this surgery. It was painful and the results were awful. I still have issues breathing or if my left nostril but refuse to go back to ent because the guy was a total jackass with no bedside manner. And now when I breathe thru that left side during a migraine it hurts much much worse than before. Like a raw feeling. My sister in law suggested putting a wad of tissue in that nostril during the migraine to see if that helped that pain but I haven't tried it yet. I get 1-2 migraines a day. I currently take midrin, norco, diclofenac, zanaflex for rescue (not all at once, I change them up so I don't build a tolerance.) I take b2 and magnesium as a preventive and just started botox on march 10. Go back for 2nd treatment on June 10. You might ask your neurologist Accor occipital nerve block. I'm going to ask mine when I go back for botox. Google it. It sounds like it would help my symptoms. In addition to all of the above you listed my scalp gets so hypersensitive that I can't even touch it. I have to take my hair out of a ponytail and no heat or ice. Good luck my friend!

Had the nerve block to help with neck pain, taking 20mgs amitriptyline and when pain is bad 2x500/8 codeine or 2x364 ibru/lysine.Had an op to open up blocked sinuses 13th Nov and now it is clear as a bell,it could take 12 months for the scarring to heal properly though.Good luck to you also.x

It's called HH migrains or alarm clock migrains. Mine start about 4.30am, left side, neck pain too. And yes up to 5 times a week. Lasting anything from an hour to all day. Sick to death of them. Daith piercing has seemed to make them less severe. Taking magnesium, and feverfrew. Hope you find what helps you . I can't believe so many suffer from this and yet no one can find an answer

I think I have some different types of migraine and am trying out a few different things at the minute which seem to be helping. One of my migraines always began around 3am and I found out about alarm clock headache on the web. Since the start of April, I have had a cup of filter coffee before bed and I haven't woke up with a migraine in the night since. I did get some migraines during the day when I had a bad stomach bug but I am carrying on with the coffee before bed and contrary to common thought, it hasn't disturbed my sleep at all. I also had a couple of exercise induced migraines since but am working on those with diet and balancing sodium and potassium.

Prior to this I had the stuffed up nostril etc and like one of the other people here I have a slightly wonky septum which the ent surgeon offered to operate on but I declined and after reading the post I am glad I did.

A coffee before bed might be worth a try.

Omg! I was told by my neurologist to cut out tea and coffee. That's great that it helps you and I will certainly give it a try.whats a septum? Thanks for your advice

Yes I don't drink tea or coke and just have that one caffeinated coffee before bed

The septum is the bit that divides your nostrils

Mine is deviated to one side so I had wondered if restricted oxygen when sleeping etc but the other person here suffered with the op so glad ididn't have the op in the end

Good luck

I have the same, my neurologist also explained that caffeine is a double edged sword. It is a pain reliever but also contributes to the migraine. He recommended 1 cup a day since I have been drinking coffee since I was in my teens, but no more. So Lingiz' plan would be acceptable.

In my case, I have double vision as well, and the neurologist referred me to a neuro-opthalmologist, who is checking me for hypertension in the fluid between my brain and skull. When that rises it results in almost-daily headaches. I also have the clogged sinus and hypersensitivity! Investigating intracranial hypertension now.

I'm similar to you. Have had left sided head pain for nearly 11 years now and migraines where the headache is on the left. Botox & a low dose of atenolol have really helped reduce the severity & frequency of the migraines.

I'm on healthunlocked tonight though because the head pain has flared up again & I'm feeling sorry for myself. It's right in my jaw & runs up into my nose.

I remember in the past that the slightest touch such as breathing in air over my teeth could start it off so perhaps that's why your nose is a problem? The nerves seem to get over stimulated.

Damn frustrating. Hope you get some respite soon.

Yeh a nuisance it seems to throw my whole body out of sync, had a rough night last night up at 4am didn't know what to do with myself need to sleep but the pain is worse when lying down,I'm stating to wonder if it's worth going to bed!

When nothing else works, I use this ice pack for heads, it often helps me get to sleep. I also have the problem of it being worse lying down, so I move to the couch and stack pillows from my waist to the arm of the couch, raising my head. Often helps me sleep a few hours. amazon.com/dp/B00067E3WI/re...

Have been suffering with exact same symptoms for many years, finally referred to neurologist last month. He prescribed Candesartan and told me to reduce caffeine intake to 2 cups per day. I have only had 1 migraine since starting 4 weeks ago.

Seems such a simple fix after years of struggling....hoping it lasts.

Good luck
