Got my piercing!

Went last night and got it done. Interestingly I had a horrendous migraine attack almost 20 minutes later on the way home. So far no change in migraine pattern but I'm hopeful. I go in to neuro on 2/26 to set up botox appointments. I really don't want to go that route but we'll see how this next month goes.

Botox has been the best thing for my migraines, it's honestly not that bad. Good luck with your piercing :)

Botox worked for me for the initial 3 1/2 months then headaches returned. After the second round, headaches returned in ten weeks and so on until the window of sanity was completely closed. In all, I had the shots for a year and a half. I have tried many preventatives that do not help. Now I take one or two Amerge daily, trying very hard to stay with only one. My neurologist says I have th worst migraine he has seen in his 40 years of practice. I am concerned about going on Medicare next year if the meds will not be covered. We cannot afford to pay. Feeling frightened and desperate does not really describe the depth of anxiety . Thanks for any feedback.

Botox will always wear off, I get topped up every three months. The first time they did a standard dosage but it only lasted just over a month until the second time were I was given double which has definitely helped keep migraines at bay. I have been suffering 4-5 migraines for just over a year and before that I'd only get 4-5 a year. I have been on hectic seizure medication but didn't like how it made me feel, I now take 100mg daily asprin & use an Oxy Chi machine for 15mins morning and night. That teamed with the Botox has decrease my migraines. Like most migraine suffers I have low blood pressure and subsequently poor circulation which I believe makes people more seceptable to migraine attacks. Migraines are hard to live with you just have to keep pushing through until you find a way to deal with them day to day or the cause. It's definitely trial and error! If you have low blood pressure or poor circulation I would definitely recommend looking into daily asprin and the Oxy Chi machine..bodytone.com.au/products.ew... It's worth the investment. Good luck!

My God I feel for you. Are your migrains with aura? Do you have neck pain with them?

No aura connected to a migraine coming on. and rarely neck pain anymore. Neck pain signifies a tension migraine for m which are rare nowadays. Thank you.

Good luck with your piercing. It honestly didn't help for me. But I left it. I went through the pain and it's cute enough lol. I go for my second round of botox end of Feb. First round did help just not completely or as well as we had hoped. They say it gets better each time. So praying for that. My real "pay the bills" job let me go today as they said they couldn't wait any longer since I'm out on short term disability. It's a good think I also sell Rodan + Fields Skin Care. Hopefully that picks up and we will he ok. I lose insurance end of Feb :(

How did the second round go? Did it help? I just did my first on 3-10 but no relief. Still 2 migraines a day. I wake around 330 am in excruciating pain and take my rescue meds and lay back down and flip my pillows to the cold side and press them into my left eye over and over until the pain subsides some and I can get back to sleep. I never know when the next one is going to hit but I only get about 5 minutes warning before the pain becomes completely unbearable. I wish I knew what caused this. They started when I got pregnant in January of 2014 and got worse after having my son. I want to have my hormone levels checked but had to wait until I stopped breastfeeding for a few months. Had tubes tied so wondering if possible TLS.

I hope you got some relief with your second round! I don't go back til June for mine.

Hey Peaches7, hopefully the stress and anxiety of doing the piercing brought on the migraine and not the piercing itself. I'm looking into it at the moment. I've had the 33 botox injections with no change. I've had occipital nerve blocks with no change. Got a dental specialist to see today to see if my jaw is causing it all (TMJ/TMD). Hope you settle, good luck 😀

Good luck. I really hope it works. It has made a positive difference to mine though hasn't stopped them altogether

Hi Peaches, don't give up on your piercing, it may take time. I tried coming down on some of my medication but it wasn't a good idea as the migranes returned, so the piercing only works along with the pills I'm taking NOT on it's own unfortunately!
