Has anybody tried Cephaly?

My Neurologist has suggested I try a Cephaly machine but it costs £250. Not available on NHS. Don't mind paying but want to k ow your experiences. Thanks Jackie

I ordered a Cefaly about two weeks ago. It arrived very quickly and initially I thought it was going to be good for me, despite the fact that it could be quite unpleasant and painful to use, especially if you don't have the electrode stuck to just the right place on your forehead.

In the meantime, I have had problems with it. There seemed to be a surge of energy through it and it then it cut out completely.

I wrote to the UK Cefaly distributors and was told this:

"Sorry to hear that you are one of a small number of people who is experiencing a “traffic jam” in the electrical impulses........and ......when it recognises that the signals are not flowing properly it thinks that the headband has lost contact with the electrode and so shuts down.....We do not know why some people get this “traffic jam” sensation - we believe it may be some form of failure in of the trigeminal nerve itself - but this is our thinking only".

I have asked to return the Cefaly and to be given a full refund - even though they tried to blame my trigeminal nerve for the problem!

I have had that happen. I must do some deep breathing and calm down a bit and then it works. Usually only takes 2 or 3 tries. Good luck

Thank you for your reply. That's food for thought. I'm getting to the stage I'd try anything because I'm sick of poisoning myself with drug after drug. Thanks for your feedback Jackie

i got a cephaly [for hemicrania continua - therefore i can never identify when a migraine is developing cause i'm in a constant state of early migraine]. it minimises a migraine - so i'm not drained for days after, therefore doesn't stop it completely for me. has no impact on the hemicrania conrinua tho..

Thank you I'm getting picture it won't take the migraines away completely but could lessen them. I'm really confused now ha

I left quite a long reply for another thread about the Cefaly.

If not, in short, I got a full refund after 7 months use as the doc at Migraine centre doesn't see much evidence with this.

But I totally understand wanting to do something other than tablets!

Unfortunately I am back on them!
