I have bad migraines and head pain all the time! Seen hospital doctors who deal with this.I`m having a big problem with the doctors as one has cancelled me as he feels it anxiety that`s causing these migraines so he told me he can`t help me no-more with tablets as I keep having bad reactions to them.So saw the other doctor and he just put me on Pregabalin 50 mg 2 x`s a day and said it will help with the pain but he does not deal with migraines! I`m at a lost here as I need help as i`m having bad migraines and head pain every day :-( with sickness and dizziness added :-(

I saw a doctor at a pain clinic and she suggested a tens machine .I have got one and it has helped a lot but it may well depend on what sort of migraines you get.I would ask GPto refer you so they can give you advice on if one would be suitable for you .Also don' spend a lot on one if you go down that route .The one the doc suggested was only £15.00

You should go back to the GP and ask for another referal and get another neurology opinion. I've see 3 and none ofcthem agree on which type of migraines i have.

I take Amytriptylene for eye pain when trying to sleep, rizatriptan melts ( when I'm nauseous and have difficulty keeping things down ) 100mg sumatriptan if it's not a nauseous migraine. And limited cocodamol / naproxen/soluble 900mg asprin/ ibuprofen oral morph for pain.

None of these are taken consecutively, i chop and change so that i have no dependancy on them.

I have TENS and Cafaly and loads of other gadgets which I find none work for me.

It's important to know your migraine, they all react differently to different meds. You need anither neurologist and your gp should be supporting you.

Be careful of rebound headaches which you will getvifcyou use too many meds.

Best of luck. Therecare wonderful people here who will empathise and hopefully tell you how they cope. Your not alone.

You need to see a neurologist that specializes in migraines. Search in your area. Migraines is one of the most misunderstood medical topics - and doctors that don't know what they are doing can make it worse. Until you find a doctor start keeping a diary of what you eat and drink, what the weather is like and how you are feeling generally on that day. Food triggers migraines, changes in sleep patterns trigger migraines, weather and atmosphere trigger migraines. Start tracking and you may be able to help yourself determine what is your trigger. feel better

I saw a Neurologist and he discharged me! I have been under their care for many years and tried on so many med`s but none helped me,then I only found out that I was discharged by me seeing my health records! So i`m worse than ever as I find that Pregabalin 50 mg twice a day is making me fall asleep after two hours taking! Then waking up well into the evening! Spoke to my gp but she just increased the drug to three times a day! I don`t know what I should be doing half the time as i`m always so tired :-(

You need to be referred to a large university hospital with a neurology clinic. You need a specialist specialist. Where neurologists, send you to a specialist neurologist.

It`s a ongoing struggle to get my gp to refer me to anyone! I`m on 5 other gp surgeries lists so I can change from my not so helpful gp at present :-(

BeesHatOO I'm so sorry 💜 I'd keep pushing to go to a large medical center. I drive 2 hours (one way) to see mine.

Just spotted this post and wanted to make a suggestion. I have suffered with migraines for 23 years often having at least 2 a week. Very debilitating. I recently started having acupuncture for my fatigue as was desperate to try anything. It hasn’t helped my fatigue but I am now migraine free! I have stopped my propranolol now too. I am told it is not always completely successful but if you are anything like me any improvement is worth it. Only downside is the cost.

Hi padders12

I have within the last week been prescribed propanol I don't know if the doctors are very sure about my problem how long do the 80 mg. start to work? I went on holiday a year ago the plane landed heavily when I got off my legs felt like they were walking on air cushion and my hips started a swaying motion which made me feel like I had motion sickness I personally think I have Eustacian tube issues as I have done a lot of reading on a variety of thing but the doctor said it could be migraines

All the best miche

I have been on them a couple of years but they never really helped. I do remember feeling very strange and dizzy when I first started to take them. Not sure if they will help you if you are not suffering migraines but something else. Good luck and hope you find something that helps.
