Potential Joblessness...(is going worth the facade?)

Hi all.

I posted a question earlier this week about Sertraline as it my first week on meds, I've taken to them with little poise, I feel numb and drowsy as hell all the time. I started to take them a day before I was due back in work after a weeks leave (this time allowed me to measure how bad I had got). Before that I was using work as a distraction and was woefully down in my spare time, in spite of this though I have not been able to drag myself back in. As I am in a probationary period I fear that this is curtains for me. I'm curious about whether this kind of thing has been an issue for anybody else? Anybody lost a job? Anybody powered through, if so was it good or bad for you?

I know this is an abstract question as there is no one way you should go about it but I am just curious.

Thank you!

Interesting question as I might be going back on meds and I wanted to ask for something different from the usual citalopram. I know how citalopram affects me and I know I can manage work whilst starting them, but it could be different for another meds ...

Hi I last worked at The Department of Work and Pensions for 5 and a half years. I took quite a lot of sick leave due to depression and stress. Eventually I was sacked even though I had sick notes for all the time I was away. I have been out of work for 3 years now on Jobseekers Allowance. I am finding it very hard to get work now in the recession.

My advice, for what its worth, is to get yourself back to work if you possibly can. Jobs are very hard to come by these days.

However, if you can't and you do get dismissed it is better if you claim ESA (sick pay) at least for a while. You might find that the Jobcentre won't give you JSA if you have been dismissed.

Good luck.
