How to fake confidence and not be seen as a weak person?

Since high school, I’ve have experienced bullying, both at school and at work, which has lead to social anxiety, depression and trust issues/struggling to open up to people. I just want some advice, since people have told me before that bully’s will always pick on the weakest people, and I don’t want to be weak, I want to be seen as strong. How do I fake confidence and get people to respect me?

Hello.

Someone told me this and it made sense although I haven’t tried the technique. Think of someone you know who is very confident and you admire. Observe their behaviours and copy and practice. Get someone close to you to let you know if they see any changes in your confidence level. Apparently it works over time.

There is another suggestion but I am not sure if it is a good one as it is mean. There was a very charismatic project leader in my company. Someone asked him how he could be so charismatic and confident. I remember him saying ‘I just assume everyone is beneath me’. Sounds awful but he was a very confident person and also (appeared) happy despite his not-so-impressive appearance.

Imagine they have no clothes on, it worked for me.Bullies are cowards themselves, you report a bully to the Headmaster or your head of Department, that generally stop the situation especially if they are going to loose their job or get expelled from school or College. The problem is if this happens it will sap your efficiency and school, college or your Department Manager, so it is in their interest to make sure you are not distracted.

Personally talking to the Police does work, bullying is a criminal offence it is a form of assault and can be treated that way in law especially if you get damaged in any way. If you are attacked you have every right to fight back if you get a good hit in that normally stops the bully and its followers.

It is important you never show fear, be firm and decisive, as long as you are not the instigator to fight. Remember you can just walk away.

No-one deserves to be attacked verbally or physically you have writes, use them.

Hi there. I’m sorry you feel the way you do about school and bullies. Believe me when I say that you are a very strong person to write this it made me feel like I had to reply.

The world is full of very different people and it would be a very sad place if we were all the same. Imagine if we were all bullies 🤦‍♀️

I’m personally an outgoing person and find it easy to mix but I wear a mask of confidence at times when I feel low.

My advice is take the lead in your calmness and thrive on being different from them. Smile inside yourself. Know that you are a better person for not causing this pain to others. This horrible experience will help you grow to be strong and help you understand the kind of person you don’t want to be.

Look at inspirational people those who have had it tough and learned to use this as a tool for strength.

I wish you well and hope this helps. ❤️
