Struggling with depression

Hi I am new to the site. Lost my mother inlay January and now with Covid I am struggling with depression and anxiety. An coping ideas would be great

You have to imagine your body fighting back and your energy flowing in your body. Visualisation is key to success, will help your body fight back and give you positive vibes. Always think about the good side of things

I can't imagine how you are feeling :-( losing your mum so recently is hard enough without covid on top. When I lost my gran, who I was really close to I used to go for a walk, regardless of the weather, there was something about being in the fresh air that helped. I live by the sea - and it was winter time - just being out and seeing the waves seemed to help. Its difficult to offer more advice because of the restraints we're all under. Big hugs to you - reach out on here and don't try to deal with your feelings alone x

Sorry for you loss and I hope you get better soon.in this uncertain times I think people who do suffer from some sort of mental illness Including me have a harder time then a lot of people.But we all have got to try and be a lot stronger I now it’s hard.the other day I put my rubbish in the bin room but could not leave because my agrophobia kicked in had to pull cord for a member of the care staff to come and rescue me I felt so stupid but she said don’t worry you have agrophobia we’re here to help you.i fill so sorry for the ones who have nobody and can’t get out they must be going around the bend.i sometimes think I’m going mad I’m talking to the tv one night a carer came in thought I had someone in the room.as of ideas to cope coming on these forums help me it’s nice to get a reply from a complete stranger and when your going through a rough time their kind word really cheer me up and if you have a way of helping them with their problems that can make you feel better.if you haven’t got family or friends and you are on Facebook find a group that is about where you live it can be very interesting also try and get a conversation going about it might be a shop that you went to as a child any place and your be surprised someone might say I owne that shop then other people reply and it might go on about another place I have found new things I never knew about where I live and I’m 60 and have lived here all my life.look on line or on some tv stations the are adds talking about being alone and having nobody to talk to with numbers that you can ring and talk to someone and some get people to ring you just to see how you are try them.keep busy have you a hobby that helps I’m building a model ship at the moment get 4 issues every month because I have tremors in my hands it can take a day just putting one screw in and accuse trying to find a bib that has pinged across the floor so keep busy.have you tried meaningful meditation it has not worked for me but I know people who it works for again look it up on the web.and remember if you need someone to talk to even if it is just on here there are kind loving people here that will help you.stay safe and well all the best.

Please can I suggest the following charity may be of use to you.

I used this for when losing my friends through addiction.

You can talk to some one does help.

Just to reassure you not alone.

These are all helpline organisations in the UK I have put down because do not know where you living.

Your mental health mentioned as well please can I ask have you spoken to your GP about this.

Always a good idea despite COVID 19.

Understand also may be a good idea to look at mental health charities as well.

In the present time know might not be able to offer floating support.

I do believe can still help you. Those charities are.

I used them all. All offer floating support advice and guidance on mental health and wellbeing.

I would also advise and suggest coping methods many things you can do also if you can not access the following charities.

1. Make a plan each day when getting up to avoid the following.

TV news and dreary Tv always start the day with a stretch and work out does not have to be hard some music uplifting.

Look on line do a Tia Chi work out many videos. Slow movements helps the mind body each day.

2. Good breakfast avoid Caffeine Chocolate Cola Tea and Energy drinks.

Caffeine is a stimulant more you consume worse the Anxiety and Depression is.

Avoid alcohol all are more you consume thinking helps more can be destructive and harmful.

Mentally and physically .

3. Make a diary plan small steps can be doing light housework clean up duties, every day.

If not feeling great do another day, use diary to set a date.

Use the sandwich lure trick. Make your favourite sandwich put away.

Good place fridge do the task then eat the sandwich.

Or make a range of freezer meals for yourself another suggestion regarding food small ones in tubs.

Soups any thing you like. Of course cheat you can buy ready made diced veggies for a soup. Cook with Passata and stock cube , cool down freeze.

4. Take that one step further use ready made diced meat or meat balls cover with stock cube or even a jar of sauce cook and cool down freeze.

5. Good sources Nutrition for depression anxiety following if you have allergies or food in tolerances speak to your GP.

Include whole grains Bread, Rice, Pasta. Pulses and Beans.

Vegetables and Fruit. Fruit useful one not hungry have a fruit bowl snack attack . With some Bread fine to stave off hunger.

Other useful ones Eggs, Nuts, Dairy Yoghurt with bacterial content culture in them helps anxiety stomach.

6. Use a coping box create one. Make a part of your home a place for comfort and meditation relaxation.

I use CD's various selections Classical Jazz and cool sounds to meditate and relax favourite songs.

Must have my bible great passages and helpful to heal. My favourite books recipes another reason use freezer .

Stashed away meatball and pasta, or inventive be creative what do you like to relax.

7. Suggestions can be word games puzzles and crosswords.

I hope these help I do understand about depression and anxiety having still coping thirty years on going.

I use a lot of the links suggested.

I would contact please if I can advise any charity to help you.

Because they have also a lot of expertise and knowledge . I also know can sign post you to relevant support and offer a lot of compassion in this difficult time.

Grief loneliness never goes away always memories burn bright.

One idea I know of is to plant a memory tree then use this as a source of comfort.

Decorate and adorn when it an anniversary , a birthday or an event.

Might help I know some people have done this, always a place for prayers and solace.

Has a seat near the fully grown tree some where to be a place of comfort.
