I know it’s long but please take the time to read :)

Last year I went to hospital and doctors/nurses thought I had sepsis, luckily I didn’t. Because if that scare, I now think every little health issue is something very very concerning. I think it got too much one time as my heart was pounding at 150/160bpm and my blood pressure was also very raised because of this. I didn’t know what this was as it just come out of nowhere. I went to the paediatric A&E where they diagnosed me with Anxiety, I didn’t feel stressed or anxious but when it was pointed out to me I realised a lot of the causes.

From then onwards, I was waking up shaking throughout the night, this was also put down to anxiety which made sense. I started taking Propranolol 10mg tablets 3 times a day, this eased a lot and got better when I was at school, doing things to take my mind off it. A year later, I have come off the propranolol and moved on to college. I have quite a bit of stress at home as my mum isn’t too well, so I’ve started with an achey chest, weak muscles and overall low in mood, staying in bed etc. I am thinking of going back on the propranolol but this only seemed to make the physical issues better, not mental. But because of the scare from the suspected sepsis and fast heart rate, I now think of bad things always happening. Eg: heart attacks, cardiac arrest, unconscious etc. I hate this mindset! I am also under tests for my bowels, as I am very constipated.

Can anyone relate to this or at least reassure me that chest pain and lethargic muscles comes with anxiety? I have a doctors appointment booked in soon to get myself checked out.

Yes I can relate, Lucy, Welcome

Your visit to hospital and the worry of possibly having Sepsis. It would seem you are now sensitized to your body and are showing concern with all the natural things that happen in your body.

If you have stopped your medication I would consider not to go back on them without your Doctors go ahead.

Make an appointment with your Doctor also write a list of what is affecting you, We all at sometime feel something is not right however you need to be able to understand that most things going on are normal and you need to consider that when next you feel something wrong.

Remember balking every time you feel there is something serious can lead you down to possible Hospital tests, you need to become positive and not put yourself in that position.

Yeah, I will get the all clear from my doctor before starting them again, as I’d need another prescription anyway. Is there any tips on making your mind more positive than negative? Thank you for your response! :)

It may help to make lists of jobs you need to do, when you complete a task reward yourself. A cup of coffee or activity you enjoy. To do this means you can see a positive end to possibly something onerous. I do something similar, although in my case I do not feel my activities would not be the same as yours

Whatever you do it is important you congratulate yourself and allow some pleasure into what you are doing.

In the early days I would listen to music, now I go onto You Tube Where I have four music lists I listen to just before bed, they relax me before bed. If I get stuck, unable to sleep I perform my Relaxation Technique to help me sleep, I use two different techniques. They recommend Mindfulness and you can purchase a book on Amazon for £7;00 it gives you various ways to relax.

If you are shopping or similar, do not rush around, when you complete your shopping having a sit down in a cafe with a Coffee or drink you enjoy, I prefer a Drinking Chocolate. To keep concentrating when driving a bar of chocolate is in the car where I have a few squares whilst driving long/medium distances.. Allow time to relax on a journey, we get tired and some people get irritated. Relaxation prevents that.

If at work take your break, if possible by moving away from your desk, it is important if possible to take a break At Lunch Time go outside just for a walk this will help you with the job you are doing. Again I mention you need to be positive and do things you enjoy, like taking the dog for a walk. If you live in the countryside or beach take a walk sometime during the day the fresh air will increase your concentration when you return at home at work

If you are at College the same applies, if you have homework, regular breaks are important. If you have several subjects to study, little bites of each subject is the best way. The brain needs to be able to absorb information, if you cram the brain will loose

capacity too learn regular breaks every two hours stop and have a break you brain will have time and space to remember.

Depression and various Mental Health conditions , prevents us fulfilling the work we have to do, that makes us dwell on the negative and never fulfill those positive ideas.

When you see your GP, make a list of your concerns, this will help you get more out of your appointments.

I have this in some sort of way my doctor thinks I do !it all started in April I had this sudden pelvic pain and couldn’t get out of bed this went on for months and took me to the point I was limping on one leg I did not ring an ambulance as I was home alone with 3 children I then started having chest pains my partner was on holiday I was home alone .I didn’t want to leave my kids so carried on the pain eventually eased and my partner came back !two weeks later I found out I was pregnant and I lost my baby !after 3 months I gave birth to a fetus my baby died !the pain disappeared whilst pregnant so I didn’t know what was wrong with me !after the baby the pain returned I started trying to find out what’s wrong with me and came across a website saying I have endometriosis !and am under investigation for this at my doctors.since then I have random heart palpitations even when I’m not feeling anxious I told my doctor she said I’m noticing it cause I’m anxious but I’m always noticing it and I’m always investigating things to do with my body as I no longer know what normal is !I also had an unknown lump for years and thought there was a connection I went to the doctor two different ones they said it’s lymph node raised but won’t investigate so I’m having to push again for investigation of this lump they say is a raised lymph node. now I constantly worry what if there is more to this lump as they can’t answer why this lymph node is like that on my body what if it’s serious condition now I panic about my heart beating not being able to breath until I get answers I can’t get out of this cycle I’ve had to pay private for more answers

I took that med for anxiety, too. I take it “only” as needed. Yes! You do feel like you are having a heart attack! I start to control my breathing more slowly, and focus on some nice thoughts till my breathing starts to slow down and feels back to normal. I worry over small stuff and most of the stuff that I THOUGHT WERE AWEFUL , never was worth the panic or anxiety feelings! Try to “let go” of these thoughts and control the anxiety or you might be heading for HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE problems!
