Anxiety relapse

Hi,

This is my first time writing here, and really I would just like to see if anyone has the same issues with anxiety/panic disorder as I have. I am in the middle of my worst relapse to date and feel quite isolated. I wake up in the morning and within seconds I am consumed with suffocating panic, sweats, shaking, churning stomach. The thought of getting out of bed increases the panic and I just want to go back to sleep so that it stops.

When I eventually get up I lurch from one panic attack to the next. I have no energy and just sit battling with intrusive thoughts connected to health anxiety. I have had to take time off work as I can't even leave the house. I have also been to a and e due to feeling so ill.

I have been on sertraline for two and a half weeks but it doesn't seem to be helping yet.

I have beaten this before but this time is particularly overwhelming, probably due to a very stressful few years...I lost both of my sons within three months of each other three years ago. They also suffered with mental health issues.

Any input would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Hello Welcome

You have been through two deaths of both sons, and that needs to be addressed by talking out what happened to them, you need to look at the past and talk to those who knew them so well. You do not say if married or not, or how old your Sons where before their demise and what happened to cause this unfortunate loss. Where your Sons old enough too be married ? This can make matters even more tragic. So you need to lick your wounds and move on

Medications will take time to work, the one mentioned you need to allow five week to feel any different. All I can advise there is you take stock of your situation, make a list of everything that is or has bothered you, make an appointment with your GP and go through the salient points with Him. Therapy may be offered to help you move on by giving some instruction on how to move on

Talking to other family members will also help, in fact those around you may feel the same and will be more than pleased you have approached them because of the loss

Consider Relaxation Technique MINDFULNESS a booklet can be purchase on Amazon for about £8.00 Stg

If you are really jumpy, try breathing techniques, they can be found on the internet.

Look for Diversions or Hobbies to distract you from your Depression or Anxiety, the more you can divert your thoughts will help you help yourself.

If you have additional problems, problems at work or life in general split up your problems into parcels then bites. Take each bite of a problem and sort it, if you get stuck move onto your next problem, you can always return back down the line when you feel confident you can finalize that concerns and return to the position you were at before. Eventually you will gain confidence once more as your problems and Anxiety become less and less.

Remember be kind to yourself, so you will pick up and move on

Hi Amsterdam60, my heart goes out to you, you have been through the war, I'm so sorry to read about your sons, my son is going through a particularly bad time justnow that I feel sometimes I'm waiting on the dreaded phone call, hes young and really struggling with himself and life. Please get yourself a strong vitamin b complex tablet for your panic and other symptoms and maybe try vit b3 separate, I'm sure if you check with your doctor you will be allowed, I'm not qualified but they help ease my hell. You are a very strong woman, this earth has its warriors! Maybe it's a bit soon for sertraline to have kicked in yet, they can take a bit longer, I'm on quetiapine for a head that doesn't stop and I do find my vitamin supplements very helpful. Is there any support group u can join, theres power in people, it gives us strength to carry on. I wish you all the love in the world cuz you deserve it!

Thanks so much for your reply, and I hope that your son is able to find some peace x

I have Dystonia and million other medical things wrong with me...but when Im gonna get a Dystonic storm sometimes my anxiety kicks in just prior and wakes me upin the middle of the night or early morning.I too..cant get out of bed when this happens,SO..I do something silly to distract my brain n body from it all happening...I start singing songs in my head.My songs r usually ones I love to hear on the radio. Most recently "Lizzo's" Good as hell... is the one I start singing in my head.for me..it works.

Best thing for me if distraction doesn't work is medical marijuana...stops the anxiety immediately. If it is available wher u live..u may consider it.
