Anxiety attack

Heya guys,

I’m heading to London tomorrow for a few days. I suffer from anxiety and depression. I’ve been having a good period over the last week. But today that’s all changed as I’ve grown closer and closer to heading to London I’ve grown more and more anxious about forgetting something and how bad things could get. I can’t really think straight. People talk to me and it goes over my head. Could do with some advice for what I could do to calm my nerves because I don’t want them to ruin my time away. I’m also afraid of a low mood because it can make me seriously tired and with little energy which again could ruin my time away. Sorry for the long winded rant

It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy . You worry so much you cause it to happen. All your focus is on yourself , always checking your breathing or heart rate. Whatever your fear is you will be tuned into it. Have any of the things you worry about actually happened ? I would guess not and probably never will.

Think about how fortunate you are to be in London . I would sell one of my children to do that. When you feel anxiety coming on tell yourself you'll have it later when you go back home and then focus on where you are and what you are doing. Have a wonderful time. Pam

Hello focus on the reason your going to london & how much fun your looking to have while your there, put your mind on the details of your clothes shoes how your going to look from your hair down to your socks I'm trying to redirect your feelings & thoughts to be more on you & the fun your going to have while your there!

I have not been into a city now for about seven years, I live in the country and have no real interest to visit so many people

Mind visiting London there is always something nice to do or visit something you enjoy. I would love too visit the museums, it was nearly forty years ago when I was there last.

Look to your visit as a chance to see and do things you have wanted to do for a long time.

Enjoy your time there, what will you be doing there ?

Focus on what you are going to do in London. Don't worry about forgetting something, you can go shopping in London if you need to.

Keep reminding yourself that this is good and exciting to get away for a few days. Remind yourself that you are glad to be going away.

If you do feel anxious then remember any techniques you've learned to cope with the anxiety. Nice steady breathing is a good one that works for me.

Enjoy your trip. You got this and can handle this. Keep telling yourself that.
