Fluoxetine Side Effects

I have been put on Fluoxetine 20mg daily to help me deal leaving a bad psychologically abusive relationship. I have been taking it since 29th January.

I seem to have picked up some major anxiety since being on these tablets, so bad sometimes that it takes me an age to pull out of it. My anxiety consists of a feeling of doom and nervous ticks such as rocking and tapping my fingers. Also I am suffering from both immense tiredness, so that I have been sleeping for up to 14 hours straight at a time, and awful nausea in the mornings resulting in me sometimes vomiting.

Are these side effects normal? Will they pass?

You should have a Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) inside your medication box when it is dispensed by the pharmacist. You will see that the symptoms you are experiencing are listed under the common side effects. In any event, it would be a good idea to speak to your prescribing doctor to explain your symptoms and discuss options. If you are feeling at increased risk of self-harm or suicidal thoughts you must speak to your doctor asap.

You need to allow the medications time to work, upwards of five weeks

Check the information leaflet as mentioned below if you think things are not right

The problem is if you start changing medications to early in the taking your GP will change medications and you may eventually miss the drug that will work for you. The medications given, variations and types are not infinite, and this can cause problems.

However if you are so very concerned and the side effects become problematic, talk to your GP, however you need to understand many of the side effects are rare and are listed.

All of what you are describing are definitely side effects. I didn't like them at all, even though I tried to fight them. Definitely talk with your Doctor!
