Hi I am new to this group but I am 43 and have found myself looking in the mirror lately of the fat body that reflects back it makes me feel sad and gives me bouts of anxiety when thinking of my male GP actually weighing me

Hi,

You could ask for a female GP or practice nurse to weigh you, and tell them you feel uncomfortable being seen by a male doctor. Also check out the free online NHS weight loss plan, which you can follow on your own or get peer support with: nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we...

It's a bit of a 'chicken and egg' situation with weight gain and depression, which makes the other worse? Also antidepressants can increase weight, but it is possible to get your weight under control if you really want to. Sometimes it's hard finding the motivation to start and to keep going. But have a chat with your practice nurse as they can help you too.

Don't give up hope of things changing. Take the first step to take control.

Best wishes,

MAS Nurse
