Sorry to be a bother, but I'm having some trouble lately and would like some advice if possible. My Primary Care Physician's office called and cancelled on me yesterday when I was supposed to go in and get refills for my medications. I take Vraylar, 6mg once a day for depression and mood swings, and I take Klonopin, 1mg once a day for severe panic attacks. I had to reschedule for next Monday, which is another week without my medications and the withdrawal is kicking in and I don't know what to do. My doctor won't prescribe me a few pills to get me through the week like some do. I don't know what to do to try and calm myself from panicking and breaking down into tears. If anyone has any advice on how I can get through this week without losing it completely, I would appreciate the help.

Hi Lorraine, I am also concerned for you that you are going through withdrawal symptoms unintentionally. I am unfamiliar with the US medical system as I am based in the UK, but we would consider this a matter of extreme urgency to get your medications topped up and re-prescribed. We have a system whereby regular prescribed meds are put on a repeat prescription basis, and all we need to do is then send an electronic request to the doctors for refills and they forward an e-prescription to your designated local pharmacy. Are you under the care of local psychiatric and mental health services, whom you could call urgently to get this sorted? If not can you present yourself to the ER department of your local hospital and explain that you are in crisis and need urgent medication to stabilise your condition?
Are there any folks in the States on here who can advise this member?
Hi MAS Nurse, thank you for replying to me. No, I'm not under the care of a local Psychiatric and Mental Health Care service, I just have my Therapist and Primary Care Physician. I can see about going into our Urgent Care tomorrow morning and see if they can help me out with a small prescription for my medications. I've been in a loop of panic attacks today and hope to find some help soon. I'm really scared that it will get worse as time goes by if I don't.
It works much the same here in the US. Usually you get a script sent to your pharmacy with enough refills to last until your next appointment. If you miss more than one appt. they will not issue you another script until you make an appointment. Sometimes a Pharmacist will give you enough pills to get you through the weekend. It would have to be someone you see regularly.
If your medications are a regular script, also you are in the UK you could try and discuss your concerns with the Surgery Reception, your medications should be a repeat and your GP should be able to provide a script. Contact Surgery
Your Chemist may be able to help, we live out in the country and chemists sometime will lend you medication and remove the tablets you have been given when you go in with your script.
Personally I cannot understand, No Repeat Prescription if your Surgery and Doctor are notified of a repeat they should arrange for you to pick up a prescription at chemist or surgery.
If you live outside the UK your system may be different. We are as said before in the UK. So our system has different rules and regulations.
In the UK it is generally up to the patient to get repeats, we need to allow at least 48 hours for the script to be filled
I just wanted to post an update. I finally got my medications yesterday and am doing loads better. Thank you all for the help you've been. I really appreciate each and every one of you!
