A sudden realization

I have come to the abrupt realization that I may not be good enough at my passion. I subject that I am studying in school is something that I absolutely love and am passionate about but I am finding that I am neither smart enough nor strong enough to keep up and that's heartbreaking.

Hey mbim! Look, first thing that comes to mind after reading your post is: any subject as practiced in school is very different from the real world practice of it. I'm sure most schools have a terrible time offering a palatable learning experience. And even if it's good, everyone learns differently. So I'd say there is a high chance that it's not that you're not smart enough, but that the methods they're using on you don't fit your way of doing things!

I bet that, if you enjoy anything about what you're studying, it's because you 'get it' at a certain level. If your brain feels comfortable playing on that field, it will perform 200% better, and you will for sure be able to make a living out of it.

Cheers friend, I hope you stay safe and strong.

I have the same issue. I have a journalism degree but no one likes my writing. It is profoundly disappointing.

Hiya. Who says you are not good enough?

Because if its you and you are suffering from any kind of depression or anxiety then your perspective will not be accurate. I nearly left my job when I was ill because of feelings of inadequacy and feeling that everyone was doing better than me. Your brain may be producing inaccurate assessments and negative opinions.

Why don't you ask the opinion of a teacher that you trust and explain your concerns. I am a teacher myself and I honestly think that passion is a huge part of success and progress. Your teachers may be completely unaware of your fears and would love to encourage you...I certainly try to do that with mine.

You also need to reflect on what you have achieved so far and not just how you feel. Just remember you don't have to be the best to be great, nor do you have to look or sound like others who you may be unfavourably comparing yourself too. In fact I would say its a bonus if you are unique! Theres enough room in this world for diversity and variety. Hang onto those dreams and never make decisions about your future when you are feeling down.

Take care.
