Hi forum members,
I would like to bring to your attention a new project that The Shaw Mind Foundation are raising funds for: Skeet-Line.
Even if you donate just £1/$1 we would be most grateful! gofundme.com/skeet-line-men...
In Autumn 2017, and as part of our wider movement to support young people, The Shaw Mind Foundation will be launching ‘Skeet-Line UK’ – a free and confidential mental health advice and support line for children and young people. Skeet-Line USA will be implemented in early 2018.
As you all know, this Mental Health Support forum on HealthUnlocked, is limited by age limit (although we do get a few under-age members registering). We hope that by offering a support line, dedicated to children and young people that this will not only limit the numbers of under-age users on this forum, but also give them a very much needed service.
In the UK and USA there is currently no dedicated mental health guidance and support line for children and young people. At a time when society is finally being urged to openly embrace talking about mental health issues, the next generation is still being failed by society. There is a lack of support for children and young people who want to discuss their thoughts, feelings and worries about mental health issues without fear of judgement.
Skeet-Line (named after our lovable young mascot, Skeet) will:
- Give callers the reassurance of a friendly voice to talk to about any mental health issues and concerns.
- Give advice and guidance on dealing with different types of mental health issues.
- Signpost where the caller can get additional help.
- Enable callers to discuss treatment options.
- Offer much needed confidential support to those children who are living with parents and family members who have mental health issues.
All of our projects (including our guidance and crisis support helpline) are made possible by your generous support. Thank you.
